January 1, 2011 is a big day. Not just because it’s the start of a new year, but also because it’s when the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), launches. What can you expect? Well, plenty of Oprah Winfrey, for starters. She’s launching shows with behind-the-scenes footage, and a new program called Oprah Presents Master Class that features celebrities like Jay-Z, Simon Cowell and more. But it’s not all Oprah. The channel will also showcase familiar Oprah experts, like Dr. Phil, Suze Orman and Dr. Mehmet Oz, plus new faces, like Canadian chefs Anna Wallner and Kristina Matisic on Anna & Kristina’s Grocery Bag. We’re most excited about Finding Sarah, with former Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson, and Why Not? With Shania Twain, which both launch this spring. Click here to find out channel OWN is on in your area and tell us: Do you plan on watching Oprah’s new network?

no IM PISSED I want DISCOVERY HEALTH! I dont understand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If she is so self righteous she must have her OWN NETWORK can it at least NOT take over another channel that provides wonderful and educational shows!?!?!??!

I will have to agree with Lisa, that I would probably have a different attitude towards the whole thing if it wasnt taking over a channel I watch pretty frequently.

I absolutely agree with Lisa. I am beyond upset about this. How can you take away such an educational channel like Discovery Health!?!? Really…tell me why I care about behind the scenes Oprah? I’m sick of her! And Sarah Fergusen? Really? What could I POSSIBLY learn from her? Shania Twain? Who cares? Did Oprah just hand out time slots on her network? Supposedly there’s a new season of Mystery Diagnosis in the works. We’ll see. I haven’t even heard any mention of Dr. G. This upsets me so much. Channels like OWN just promote a dumb, uneducated nation. Discovery Health gave shows that educated, informed & stimulated the miind. Today is definitely a day of mourning.

NO!

Granted, she’s a media mogul with bias to spare, but does Oprah really need an entire network’s worth of soapbox? I don’t think so.
