Norma Kamali Has Another Lower-Priced Line in the Works

Dec 20, 2010 @ 3:00 pm

Norma Kamali is planning to expand…even more! The designer (inset), who is known for her swimwear, sleeping bag coats and goddess dresses (as seen here on Sarah Jessica Parker in Sex and the City 2), told the crowd at the FashInvest’s Capital Conference last week in New York that she is working on a lower-price collection that will be exclusive to her Web site. Kamali, who already launched the successful NK for Walmart lower-priced line in 2008 (which she wore to the event), told InStyle exclusively, “The [new] collection is for those on a low budget and women who are simply smart shoppers with great style, who know how to mix high and low.” While Kamali is still in the early stages of creating the line and getting investors, it’s never too early to get excited for a lower-price designer collection—we can’t wait!

Camilla Belle to Model for Alberta Ferretti

Dec 20, 2010 @ 2:54 pm

She’s no stranger to posing on the red carpet, but now Camilla Belle is set to walk in a runway show! Italian designer Alberta Ferretti recruited the 24-year-old actress to model in her upcoming Florence fashion show, a special event in which the designer will be honored by the international exhibition Pitti Uomo. Ferretti designed a special collection just for the occasion consisting of 30 looks, which she pledged will be worn by her personal muses (read: non-models), including Belle. The show takes place on January 11th in Florence, Italy, which means Belle has plenty of time to catch up on old episodes of America’s Next Top Model for some last-minute smizing tips.

Kate Middleton’s Weekend Involved a Temperley Dress and Wedding China

Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s engagement is rolling along quite smoothly. The couple went out this weekend, for the first time since their engagement announcement, to attend the Thursford Christmas Spectacular charity event in Fakenham, England. Continuing her white dress streak, Middleton wore a version by Temperley London ($425 at StyleFind.com) with a black geometric embellished neckline, which she paired with a black blazer, clutch, pumps and sheer tights. Also, the Royal Collection just released its official commemorative china for the Prince’s upcoming nuptials, which includes a plate, cup and pillbox ($39 to $62, RoyalCollectionShop.co.uk). Each item is decorated with the couple’s initials woven together in gold and silver, the Prince’s coronet and the wedding date. And since these are official, William and Kate had to approve the design before they could ever be sold, the BBC reports, which is just one of the reasons why these are a lot different and more, er, Royal than the ones being sold with their faces plastered all over them. You know what weekends like these are called? Productive.

Trend to Try: Tan Skirts With Jewel-Tone Tops

Emily Blunt attended the premiere of Gulliver’s Travels in Hollywood over the weekend in a color-block dress by Roksanda Ilincic. The look featured an aquamarine top, which was perfectly offset by the attached tan skirt and a sliver of amethyst purple at the waist. Other celebrities are loving the way a beige skirt looks with a bright top, too: Kim Kardashian wore a sequined petal skirt with a ruby cowl neck blouse in London a few months ago, and Blake Lively wore a vibrant blue top by Gypsy 05 with a tan skort by Wayne on Gossip Girl this season. Tell us what you think of the tan-plus-jewel-tone look in the comments below.

Leighton Meester traded in her preppy Upper East Side Gossip Girl attitude and wardrobe to play Texas beauty queen and country singer Chiles Stanton in Country Strong. Can’t wait to see the movie, which also stars Gwyneth Paltrow and Tim McGraw, when it opens January 7th? Neither can we! See Meester’s video for “Summer Girl,” one of the tunes she sings in the movie, after the jump.
