New Eveningwear from Zara

The following is a guest post from one of our favorite blogs, Fabsugar.

It’s all the things we love about Zara—effortless elegance-meets-cool—only this time, it’s designed exclusively for our evening out. The leopard print we’re so fond of makes its way onto a full-skirted minidress and a blazer, a hot red dress gets a little sophistication with a higher neckline, sequins hop on our party-perfect cocktail sheath, and a velvet tuxedo becomes an updated alternative to the party dress. The timing couldn’t be better, so shop a chic little holiday look now!

The official lookbook came out today, and we’ve picked our four favorite looks from the collaboration coming to stores and Target.com on December 19th. From left, there’s an embellished tank ($29.99), twill jacket ($44.99), and faux-leather shorts ($39.99); then a flag tunic ($34.99) and ponte vest ($39.99); next a chambray shirt ($34.99) and faux-leather shorts; and finally, on the far right, a leather jacket ($199.99), flag tunic, and embellished tank. Kudos to Justin Timberlake, the co-founder of William Rast, for making such cute and affordable pieces!

Kim Kardashian and Lady Gaga Ruled the Web This Year!

Dec 1, 2010 @ 3:22 pm

Search engines Bing and Yahoo have just announced their year-end most-searched lists, and a few famous faces dominated everyone’s keyboards. 2010′s most popular topic on Bing.com was Kim Kardashian, who won by a landslide 20% more searches than second place Sandra Bullock. Behind the BP oil spill, the World Cup, and Miley Cyrus, Kim also came in at #4 on Yahoo’s list. Lady Gaga was a big hit on both sites,  ranking #4 on Bing and #5 on Yahoo. Who or what will top the list in 2011? Kate Middleton and Prince William, perhaps?

Derek Lam Wants to Dress Natalie Portman for the Oscars

Dec 1, 2010 @ 2:01 pm

Oscar buzz is building around Natalie Portman’s intense portrayal of a young ballerina driven to the edge in Black Swan, and if she does score a nomination, designer Derek Lam is at the ready. “I’ve dressed her for the carpet before,” he told us at the recent Tod’s lunch benefiting the Museum of Contemporary Art. (The Closer premiere, shown left, was one of those occasions.) “When she pops up on the screen or on the red carpet, she looks like such a superstar,” the designer continued. “She’s complimented me a few times. She said, ‘I’ve never felt more beautiful.’ Maybe she says that to everybody, right?” Aw, Derek, don’t be so bashful!

Dec 1, 2010 @ 12:56 pm

Guys better start guarding their closets more closely! Many Hollywood actresses have been trading in their minis and gowns for menswear-inspired suits! Halle Barry chose a jacquard Balmain suit to the premiere of her new film Frankie and Alice, Leighton Meester went for the complete look in a Thom Browne suit, button-down and tie at the Gotham Independent Film Awards, Jessica Alba went shirtless in a Dolce and Gabbana suit earlier this week, and Winona Ryder fittingly opted for all black at the Black Swan premiere. Tell us: Will you try the menswear trend?

Our Favorite Finds from the Net-a-Porter Sale!

Dec 1, 2010 @ 11:54 am

If you’re anything like us, you woke up with an extra spring in your step today because Net-a-Porter launched their big end of season sale! But when we started to click through, we were heartbroken to discover that most of the items aren’t being sold in many sizes. Sigh. So, we’ve rounded up a few of our favorites that are still available in a nice range of sizes. You won’t find bargain basement prices, but if you’re looking to splurge on a bit of high fashion, there’s great stuff to be found including Isabel Marant crystal earrings reduced from $550 to $385. Kate Middleton‘s go-to brand, Issa, has a black sequined dress at half price for $732.50. Emma Watson fans, this one’s for you: the belted Carven dress she recently wore on the Today show has been marked down to $726. Rag & Bone desert boots originally sold for $450 and are now $315. Shop fast though—we can’t promise these chic pieces will be around much longer!

Mila Kunis & Natalie Portman’s Black Swan Premiere Style

Dec 1, 2010 @ 11:08 am

Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman kept things black and white at last night’s New York premiere of Black Swan—but with an insider-y twist: Kunis, who in the role of Lily is the more passionate and worldly of the two, looked absolutely angelic in an pale rose, Elie Saab gown, simple updo and glowing pink makeup, while Portman, who plays the sheltered, yet troubled, ballerina Nina, went for all out sex appeal in a sultry, off-the-shoulder Dior gown, long flowing hair and siren-esque red lips. She even carried an Olympia Le Tan book clutch of the novel Lolita, about the notorious teenage temptress. Black Swan opens this Friday, and we can’t wait!
