Christian Siriano Launches Vintage-Inspired Holiday Jewelry

Nov 29, 2010 @ 1:49 pm

Is there anything Christian Siriano can’t do? First Project Runaway, then a namesake collection complete with New York runway shows, then a line of Payless shoes and now, a vintage inspired jewelry line! The Regal Estate collection, which launched yesterday on his accessories-only website SendtheTrend.com, was inspired by fashion references ranging from 19th century French royalty to ’70s icon Bianca Jagger. “I love vintage, regal looking estate jewelry and I wanted these pieces to have that antique, vintage look—like something you can’t find anywhere else,” the designer said in a press release. He also loves affordable fashion. Case and point? All items (including the 10-karat gold-plated amethyst hoops on the left) are $29.95! Happy shopping…

Nov 29, 2010 @ 1:42 pm

Don’t be surprised if this Wednesday, your Twitter feed is surprisingly silent. On December 1st, Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian, Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Hudson and other celebrities have pledged to take a break from social media to draw awareness to World Aids Day, and specifically to Alicia Keys’s Keep a Child Alive campaign. “This is such a direct and instantly emotional way…to get people to pay attention,” the singer told the Associated Press. The stars will sign back on once the charity raises $1 million. To do your part, make a one-time $5 donation to Keep a Child Alive by texting 9099. The charge will appear on your next phone bill.

Kim Kardashian & Blake Lively’s Thanksgiving Plans

Nov 24, 2010 @ 12:48 pm

For us, Thanksgiving’s all about perfecting our pumpkin pie recipe, catching up with family and eating a little too much stuffing. And we found out at the Lorraine Schwartz “2BHAPPY” jewelry collection event that it’s actually pretty similar for Hollywood’s hottest. Blake Lively told us, “I cook an entire feast—a 12-course meal!—sweet potato casserole is my favorite.” Kim Kardashian revealed: “We get up early; my mom stalks us all. She calls, calls, calls to make sure we’re at the house helping, because if we’re not helping cooking it ruins her whole day and she’s a crazy lunatic so I have to get there early.” Sounds like both women have a great days planned. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Volunteers to Be Invited to Royal Wedding

Nov 24, 2010 @ 12:39 pm

Giving all of Britain more reason to celebrate, Prince William’s private secretary, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, said yesterday, “Prince William and Catherine have made it very clear that they wish everybody to be able to enjoy the day with them.” Quite fitting for the son of Diana, the “People’s Princess.” Prince William and his bride-to-be are expected to invite volunteers from their favorite charities to their April 29 wedding. Those charities include Centrepoint, which aids young homeless people, and Starlight, a British charity similar to Make a Wish.

Karl Lagerfeld Designing a Lower-Priced Line for Macy’s

Nov 24, 2010 @ 12:19 pm

What do Karl Lagerfeld and Madonna have in common? Beyond a shared love of couture and all things fabulous, Lagerfeld, like Madonna before him, is designing a lower-priced line for Macy’s. His yet-to-be named capsule collection will be sold in 250 Macy’s stores and online starting in September 2011. While sure to generate long lines at Macy’s stores come next fall, the collection isn’t a surprise to those who follow the Chanel designer—Karl alluded to a diffusion line when he opted not to show his signature collection during Paris fashion week, saying he was working on a masstige ready-to-wear line. But Lagerfeld is only the beginning. Once he kicks things off, Macy’s will feature a new lower priced designer line every two months starting in February 2012 with former John Galliano employee Kinder Aggugini, followed by Vivienne Westwood, Paul Smith, Calvin Klein, Costume National, and Versace!
