Oprah’s Ultimate Favorite Things 2010

Nov 19, 2010 @ 4:24 pm

It’s not exactly a newsflash that Oprah likes giving things away. But she especially likes giving things away to people who deserve it, and she especially especially likes giving things away during the holiday season. Compound that with her show’s final season, and you’ve got one huge giveaway blowout! Cue Oprah’s Ultimate Favorite Things show, which aired today and left us reeling! Oprah filled the audience with people who had given back to their families, community or the world, hired a full staff of medics in case of excitement-induced collapses, and let the giving begin. Dazzling highlights? A custom Philip Stein Diamond Watch with 85 diamonds, a Tory Burch Tory tote and Reva flats, Judith Ripka canary earrings, a custom made Ralph Lauren cashmere sweater and throw, a Nikon D3100 Digital SLR camera, Jay-Z’s new book, Decoded, a $1,000 closet makeover from The Container Store, a five-year subscription to Netflix, a 3-D Sony Bravia television, a seven-day Royal Caribbean cruise, and more. The Black Eyed Peas closed Part 1 of the show, which continues with Part 2 (yes you’re reading correctly) on Monday. Could a fleet of cars be in the future?

Sexy Tron Legacy star Olivia Wilde showed her support for the movie and the fashion-forward line for Opening Ceremony it inspired at the US Weekly Stars Who Care party last night. Olivia, one of the night’s honorees for her work with school children in Haiti, gave us the details: “[The line] mimics the design of our costumes and the world in general inside the computer. And they did amazing dresses, so I’m really excited about it!” When asked if it was all in her closet right now, she laughed, “Soon to be! Soon to be!” and said she has her eye on this orange coat. TRON: Legacy opens December 17.

Watch the Lanvin for H&M Couture Show!

Nov 19, 2010 @ 10:16 am

As you’ll see in the video above, Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz knows how to put on a show. Last night at NYC’s Pierre Hotel, he debuted haute couture designs based on his work with Swedish chain H&M that are being auctioned for charity. Models strutted down the runway avec beaucoup d’attitude, as did one belle gray poodle. Actress Andie MacDowell, who sat front row, said, “I think it’s genius. I’m a big fan of Lanvin. I can afford Lanvin and my daughter can afford H&M, and now my daughter’s going to have the opportunity to have a little bit more pizzazz.” The outfits are up for auction now through midnight on November 26th. All the proceeds go to UNICEF’s “All for Children” initiative. Otherwise, shop the regular Lanvin Hearts H&M collection when it hits stores tomorrow! More

Whitney Port Wants to Dress Rihanna

Nov 19, 2010 @ 10:00 am

Might we see Rihanna wearing Whitney Eve at the American Music Awards show on Sunday? Yes, if Whitney Port has anything to do with it. When we caught up with the designer at the US Weekly Stars Who Care party last night (left), she counted the “Only Girl (in the World)” singer, along with Kate Bosworth and Keira Knightley, among the celebrities she would most like to dress. While Whitney was tight-lipped about her in-the-works fall 2011 collection, she did say that Los Angeles and New York street style are her inspiration. But fashion designing isn’t the only thing the former-reality TV star has going on: Her first book, True Whit, hits stores in February. “It’s a lifestyle how-to for women in their 20s through 40s,” she said. “It covers everything ranging from moving to a new city and interviewing for a job to how to do your makeup in five minutes. It’s really fun!”

Emma Watson’s Style Transformation

It’s been nearly 10 years since Emma Watson first charmed audiences as the teacher’s pet wizard-in-training Hermione Granger in the first Harry Potter movie. In seemingly less time than it takes to flick a wand and murmur a spell, the British actress has transformed from an adorable 11-year old to precocious tween to budding fashionista to the face of Burberry to a designer in her own right, seen here most recently (far right) rocking a lace and feather Rafael Lopez dress at the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 London premiere last week. When she cut her hair into a chic pixie earlier this year, Emma distanced herself from Hermione and cemented herself as a style star to watch. The Brown University student’s first post-Harry part is alongside Michelle Williams in My Week with Marilyn, so expect her look to travel back in time again—this time through the magic of hair, makeup and wardrobe.

MORE! See Emma’s Hermione Granger transformation.

PLUS: Harry Potter’s transformation and Ron Weasley’s transformation!
