Keira Knightley’s Easy-to-Copy Makeup

Oct 15, 2010 @ 5:04 pm

Keira Knightley is so gorgeous, it’s almost obscene. We literally can’t get over how flawless she looked at the London premiere of Never Let Me Go. The fashionistas are swooning over her pearl Chanel dress, and it turns out that’s exactly where Knightley’s makeup artist, Kate Lee, found her inspiration. “Pearls are classic, timeless and chic,” Lee told us. “I wanted the makeup to create an iconic image that would still look current years from now.” The makeup artist rimmed the star’s top and bottom lashline with Chanel Kohl Pencil, then smudged the outer third of the line for a soft, velvety effect. She added a touch of light by dabbing NARS cream shadow duo in Thebes along the center of the lid and the browbone. The finishing touch? A few artfully place clusters of faux lashes, and plenty of Chanel Inimitable Intense Mascara. Perfect!

Pierre Hardy for the Gap Hits Again This Month!

Oct 15, 2010 @ 4:00 pm

It just keeps…getting…cuter! The Pierre Hardy/Gap collaboration has been a favorite of ours since it launched in 2007. We wore our spring sandals to death, and now the brand’s hooked us up again for fall. New shoes are coming to stores and Gap.com on October 28th. Out of the four styles, our favorite is this pair of wedge booties (pictured left) which Style.com reports retail for $195. We’ll take ‘em!

Celebs Film Festival Survival Tips!

Oct 15, 2010 @ 3:23 pm

In our November issue, we celebrate the stars of the 2010 Toronto Film Festival. When Nicole Kidman, Hilary Swank and Freida Pinto stopped by InStyle‘s photo studio we just had to ask them how they managed to stay looking picture perfect despite the non-stop schedule of red carpet premieres, parties and press conferences. “I just went mad and took every kind of sweet from your candy display,” admitted Never Let Me Go star Carey Mulligan (right). Meanwhile Emma Stone (center) relies on her phone, confessing that without it, “I’d be completely lost!” And Josh Hartnett‘s (left) preferred pick-me-up? A simple cup of joe. “I couldn’t survive without coffee,” admitted the sleep-deprived Bunraku star. “Coffee is key.” Click on to find out what more of our star guests said they couldn’t live without.

Rose McGowan Invests in a New Blowout Salon

Oct 15, 2010 @ 2:25 pm

Rose McGowan knows a thing or two about great hair. (See Exhibit A, bottom right.) And she’s so dedicated to the cause that’s she’s gone in as a partner at the new West Hollywood location of Drybar, LA’s premiere blowout spot, which opens next week! Busy celebs like Cindy Crawford, Rose Byrne, Julianna Hough, Leslie Mann and Bridget Moynahan are all fans of the speedy, perfectly polished blowouts the salon turns out. Sweetening the pot just a bit more, Drybar tells us McGowan is set to partner with them on a line of hair products due out in the spring. We can’t wait!

The Women Who Inspire Donna Karan

Oct 15, 2010 @ 1:34 pm

Donna Karan has recently added e-commerce and some other fantastic features to DonnaKaran.com. Apart from browsing all of her great fall merch (we’re obsessed with all those black dresses!), one of our favorite elements is the new ”Women Who Inspire” section which highlights famous faces like Demi Moore, Brooke Shields, Nicole Kidman and Susan Sarandon standing up for terrific causes. On the site, the designer explains, “I believe in the power of women. As nurturers, we have a unique ability to care and share and make the world a better place.” Seems like Donna’s definitely doing her part giving us a place to shop and learn more about important charities.
