The final day of New York Fashion Week, featuring the triple threat first-name-only-required lineup—Calvin, Ralph, Oscar—leaves editors almost always on a high note, and this season was no exception. Francisco Costa wowed with a minimal (yet completely magical) collection for Calvin Klein, hosting the most star-studded front row of the day, including Julianne Moore and Katie Holmes. Click through the gallery below for all the need-to-know news, trends we are loving now, plus our take on the hottest moments from New York Fashion Week!
Who knew Martha Stewart was such a fashionista? In an upcoming special for the Hallmark Channel, the domestic diva and media mogul interviews Tory Burch, Diane von Furstenberg, Donna Karan and J. Crew’s Jenna Lyons. Naturally, with subjects this successful, the show is as much about empire building as it is about clothes. “This is true American dream here,” Diane von Furstenberg pointed out during her segment. “We have you as the big American dream and me as the little American dream.” Relaxed with her peers, Martha saucily jokes with them about dating, bodysuits (she’s pro) and her favorite stilettos. In short, Martha Stewart: The Women Who Dress America is the perfect blend of girl talk and business wisdom—get a sneak peek after the jump and tune in this Sunday at 9:00/8:00 Central.
Last night, I had the pleasure of previewing Emma Stone’s new teen comedy, Easy A, at an exclusive screening hosted by InStyle. Besides the seriously laugh-out-loud film itself, the evening’s hightlight was an introduction by Stone’s charming and gorgeous co-star, Penn Badgley. “Sorry I’m not as feminine and redheaded as Emma Stone,” he began, going on to suggest his leading lady’s ease with the “dialogue heavy” script led to a star-making performance. Although you may not get to rub elbows with Badgley when you hit the theater, Easy A—which opens today—is still a must-see!
While visiting The Ellen Show yesterday, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were greeted with presents that host Ellen DeGeneres found fitting: giant sunglasses and purses, two trends that the sisters are famous for wearing. Although the episode won’t air until tomorrow, you can enjoy this sneak peek for now!
Now that the dust has settled over New York Fashion Week, our friends across the pond are gearing up for London Fashion Week. And one of our favorite designers, Burberry’s Chief Creative Officer Christopher Bailey, has taken over the label’s Twitter page, tweeting his way through the final alterations, castings, and any drama that might ensue—right up until the start of the show next Tuesday! And the designer has already started to dish, tweeting just this morning, “@serenawilliams looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday – CB.” Follow @Burberry to get the scoop from Bailey on the all happenings of Burberry’s Spring 2011 show, then visit our Designer Central the following day to see the complete collection.
