Every year, the Pantone Color Institute releases the top 10 hues that will color fashion for the upcoming season. For Spring 2011, designers are using bold hues reminiscent of Africa, India, Peru and Turkey. “This time, everything is a little more exotic,” Pantone’s executive director Leatrice Eiseman said. And some of our favorite celebrities have already graced the red carpet wearing the bright, citrus tones: Lea Michele in Beeswax Yellow, Ashley Olsen in Regatta Blue, Jenna Fischer in Honeysuckle Coral and Leona Lewis in Peapod Green. For the complete Spring 2011 color report see pantone.com. Tell us: Which color do you like best?

Nicole Richie Dishes on Spring Collections: “Very Lolita-esque!”

Sep 8, 2010 @ 1:17 pm

Nicole Richie has her hands full fashion-wise, with two successful collections to her name: Winter Kate, a contemporary ready-to-wear collection, and House of Harlow 1960, a line of costume jewelry and shoes. We sat down with Richie to get the scoop on her new spring collections, her styling tricks  and the plausibility of a children’s line in the near future. (Plus, check out our exclusive preview of the Winter Kate lookbook, above!)

InStyle.com: What was your inspiration for the Spring 2011 Winter Kate collection?

Nicole Richie: A lot of the inspiration was drawn from my mother–the way she dressed when I was growing up was very feminine and sexy, but in an innocent, demure way. I also love the way French gypsies mix, wrap and layer their look.

InStyle.com: So how did you translate that aesthetic into your line?

Nicole Richie: It’s very Lolita-esque, like jumpsuits, rompers, high-waisted shorts and girlie camisoles. But the Kimono-inspired piece is one of my favorites—it is truly a part of the Winter Kate identity. More

Fashion’s Night Out is only a few days away and we’re putting the finishing touches on our plans to cohost the Elizabeth and James Pop-Up shop event. Designers Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen picked their favorite look from a FabSugar reader, and the lucky lady, Jamie from Alabama, will be flying to NYC with her boyfriend to attend the big event, get styled for the bash and meet Mary-Kate and Ashley! Last week we revealed some fun new details about the themed Pop-Up shop where Sunday, Sept. 12 is FabSugar Day. Pop and Fab will be throwing a party at the store on Sunday from 2-4—stay tuned for more on that. We’ll be following Jamie’s journey to the biggest night in fashion and documenting the whole thing for PopSugarTV so stay tuned and for now, check out this video sneak peek at the Pop-Up shop!
