Michelle Obama’s Favorite Tote(s)

We love following Michelle Obama’s style, and we couldn’t help but notice that through all her end-of-summer travels she’s carried one accessory consistently: a Lambertson Truex tote. The luxe handbag designers, who recently designed Tiffany’s first leather collection, are known for their tailored shapes and precise attention to detail. We’re loving Michelle’s neon shades, and the fact that it’s canvas makes it a go-anywhere bag. Although Lambertson Truex is no longer in existence (sigh), we’ve picked out our favorite similar style.

Gucci.com has relaunched, with a “Digital Flagship” that will sell exclusive merchandise, just like their other (bricks-and-mortar) Flagship stores. One of our favorite aspects of the luxury retailer’s new site is how easy it is to find related content: Love a purse? Click on it, and you’ll find a ton of relevant information to peruse, including videos, news items and photos of celebrities wearing the style. Plus, users will be able to watch the Spring 2011 Gucci ready-to-wear show in Milan on September 22—without having to travel! Just sign up for an e-ticket at gucciconnect.com where you’ll receive your “seat assignment.” More

Brad Pitt and Sandra Bullock made a trip to New Orleans over the weekend to mark the five year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Pitt, who founded Make It Right after the devastating disaster, checked up on the progress of his eco-housing rebuild project in the Lower Ninth Ward and posed with fans. In an exclusive interview on NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams, Pitt said “I’m hoping we raise more money to expand this idea. I would like to see this expand to the city and other places in the U.S., the idea of making it right.” Bullock, in a dark blue Zero + Maria Cornejo dress, was on hand to cut the ribbon at the re-opening of the Warren Easton Charter High School Health Clinic, that was destroyed back in the 2005 storm, a project which she generously help fund. “I have seen nothing but unimaginable kindness, perseverance and hope right in this room here,” she told the crowd. “It gives me great pleasure to be in the company of those people who have actually made the difference. I would like to thank the students who step up to the plate and do the hardest work. They are our future leaders.” Check out 7 ways you can continue to help Katrina victims today.

Mariska Hargitay’s Vera Wang Gown: “It’s inspired by my wedding dress!”

Aug 30, 2010 @ 12:28 pm

When Mariska Hargitay walked the red carpet at the Emmys last night, the Law & Order: SVU star was getting a little sentimental. “It was my wedding anniversary yesterday and I was feeling nostalgic,” Hargitay told us. So when it came down to choosing her gown, she went with a blush-colored silk faille Vera Wang. “It was inspired by my wedding dress. I wore a very, very similar color. I told them I wanted a dress that was very ’50s, retro and romantic.” She also paid homage to her nuptial hairstyle from her August 28, 2004 affair: The actress told her stylist, Chris McMillan that she wanted a “similar thing” to her bridal coiff (he styled her hair for her big day too). Check out all of her wedding details, then tell us: Do you think Hargitay’s Emmy style is similar to her wedding day?

Emmys Night Nail Polish: Navy & Aubergine

Aug 30, 2010 @ 11:42 am

Much like the gown trends we saw on the red carpet, many stars chose to paint their nails in rich fall hues, like dark navy blue and aubergine. Lea Michele had hers painted by celebrity nail guru Deborah Lippmann, who used a navy shade with a bright silver shimmer, Lady Sings the Blues, from Lippman’s eponymous line. January Jones, on the other hand, chose to contrast her bright electric blue gown with a dark aubergine hue. Lippmann also polished Jones’s nails with another shade from her collection, Dark Side of the Moon.

Aug 30, 2010 @ 11:30 am

At last night’s Emmys, we caught up with a few Glee stars to get the inside dish on the highly-anticipated Britney Spears episode. “I can’t believe [creator] Ryan [Murphy] got her to do this! I’m so thankful! She’s so professional and so great to work with,” Outstanding Lead Actress nominee, Lea Michele (in Oscar de la Renta), told us. And as for Spears’ on-set persona? “Everyone makes her out to be a certain way, but she’s so down to earth, very cool, and she looks great,” says co-star Harry Shum of Spears (pictured here on-set with Heather Morris). “She’s so talented and so I’m excited what she’s brought to the table as far as the premiere.” Make sure to watch the premiere on Tuesday, September 21 at 8pm EST on Fox. Can’t wait till then? Check out a brand-new Season 2 promo pic after the jump!
