Brad Pitt and Sandra Bullock made a trip to New Orleans over the weekend to mark the five year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Pitt, who founded Make It Right after the devastating disaster, checked up on the progress of his eco-housing rebuild project in the Lower Ninth Ward and posed with fans. In an exclusive interview on NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams, Pitt said “I’m hoping we raise more money to expand this idea. I would like to see this expand to the city and other places in the U.S., the idea of making it right.” Bullock, in a dark blue Zero + Maria Cornejo dress, was on hand to cut the ribbon at the re-opening of the Warren Easton Charter High School Health Clinic, that was destroyed back in the 2005 storm, a project which she generously help fund. “I have seen nothing but unimaginable kindness, perseverance and hope right in this room here,” she told the crowd. “It gives me great pleasure to be in the company of those people who have actually made the difference. I would like to thank the students who step up to the plate and do the hardest work. They are our future leaders.” Check out 7 ways you can continue to help Katrina victims today.
