Marchesa’s New Makeup Collection

Aug 19, 2010 @ 1:44 pm

In the fashion world, Marchesa designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig are known for their artfully draped, lushly tactile designs. So how did the two approach their very first makeup collection with prestige beauty brand Le Metier de Beaute? By using their designs as inspirations, of course. The shiny, ultra-sleek packaging was a direct reference to the silvery bugle dress the duo designed for Sandra Bullock at this year’s Oscars. “That dress was such an iconic moment for us,” the duo told us. “We wanted the products to feel just as glamorous. Like a mini Oscar and personal makeup artist rolled into one.” The collection—which consists of two makeup compacts, lip glosses and highlighting pens—will be at Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus starting in September. And lucky for us, the partnership between Marchesa and Le Metier de Beaute will be around for the next two years, at least, with new launches for spring, fall and holiday.

La Perla & Jean Paul Gaultier Debut Cone Bra Collection

Aug 19, 2010 @ 12:15 pm

La Perla has teamed up with legendary fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier—he who created Madonna’s iconic cone bra—on a capsule collection. Dita von Teese revealed a limited-edition garment from the collaboration during the finale of Gaultier’s Paris Haute Couture show, and the rest of the collection features conic bras inspired by Madonna’s 1990 Blond Ambition Tour, waist-cinching corsets and retro briefs. “Lingerie is part of my DNA and my heritage. I revisited the conical bras and corsets worn as outerwear. This collaboration was a natural and logical step especially since La Perla is the pearl of lingerie,” Gaultier said in a statement. Prices start around $600 and will be available in select department stores and La Perla boutiques in November. Tell us: Would you wear a cone bra?
