Back in March, we reported that Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis would star in the upcoming Darren Aronofsky-directed film Black Swan and gave you a first look at the costumes (designed by the talented sisters of Rodarte). And now the trailer has been released! The film, which took home top honors at the Venice Film Festival and hits select theaters December 1, looks gorgeously dark and dramatic—just like the costumes! Will you be seeing Black Swan? We definitely will.
Spotted: An explosion of citrus-hued fashion on the set of Gossip Girl, with Blair (Leighton Meester), Serena (Blake Lively) and their entourage working some very vibrant ensembles. Blair looks the part in a pretty mixed-print Nanette Lepore dress and matching Nancy Gonzalez crocodile tote and Serena, her hipster equivalent, wears a lemon yellow-vest top, navy shorts and bright blue bag. While the stylish twosome kept their footwear neutral, their two sidekicks sported brighter heels with their equally electrifying frocks. And let’s not forget the hair accessories: We love Serena’s sunny barrette and the sidekicks’s schoolgirl headbands. Click through the gallery to see more photos of the stylish cast on set.
Two of our favorite retailers for discounted designer fashions, Target (with those never-ending capsule collections) and Gilt Groupe (and their sweat-inducing flash sales), are teaming up. Starting Friday at noon, three of Target’s newest designer collabs—Tucker fashions, Mulberry bags and John Derian decoupage—will be sold exclusively on Gilt.com before they’re even available in stores. Get online early, though: The sale will only last through the weekend, with limited merchandise available. If you’re too late, you can snap up Tucker’s pieces starting September 12th and Mulberry’s, October 10th. Until then, we’ll be dreaming of a less-pricey-but-equally-chic Alexa-style inspired Mulberry bag (at right).
Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead, one of our favorite ’90s flicks ever, is reportedly going to be remade. (Current status: the script is out to writers.) Already a cult classic, the 1991 film followed Christina Applegate (as oldest sis Sue Ellen) as she worked to support her brothers and sisters at a cushy fashion gig after the summer babysitter, you know, dropped dead. Now that the stylish movie is set to enter the 21st century, our minds are swirling with leading lady possibilities. Who do you think should play Sue Ellen this time around?
“I’ve got it narrowed down to two dresses, both from the same designer and both equally beautiful and feminine. That’s kind of my thing,” Glee‘s Dianna Agron told us when we hit her up for hints about what she’ll wear to the Emmy Awards on August 29th. While Agron will stick to what works, it sounds like many of Hollywood’s most stylish actresses are thinking of trying something new. “I might wear something a bit sexier,” said Damages star Rose Byrne. “I started looking for a dress early, so fingers crossed it will all come together.” Meanwhile, Jessica Szohr might let her Gossip Girl character influence her style. “I’m looking for a dress that’s little edgy, that will make me stand out without looking like I’m trying too hard. Something fun and feminine that’s not too girlie,” she told us. But it’s Modern Family‘s Julie Bowen who might be the biggest risk-taker on the Emmys red carpet this year. “This morning I lost out on a great dress because I couldn’t make a decision. I guess I’m not famous enough to wait until the last minute,” the best actress nominee told us. “I really want to wear pants, is that wrong?”
We’re loving Zoe Kravitz’s new ad campaign for Alexander Wang’s T collection, a line of super-soft, super-cool knits, in which the actress shows off Wang’s seriously wearable collection with a little help from model Max Motto. The ads are only being postered on New York City streets, so check out the rest of them in the gallery below.
Gabourey Sibide is rumored to be teaming up with Bobbi Brown on a line of cosmetics. Although the company won’t confirm whether or not a line is in the works, the Precious star was spotted leaving Brown’s offices last week. With the makeup guru’s legendary formulas and Sidibe’s love of bold color—check out those magenta lips—we’d love to see the pair collaborate.
