Mad Men has a major modern-day fashion following, thanks to costume designer Janie Bryant’s penchant for chic, ladylike designs—and now you can own actual dresses from the show! The gold brocade dress worn by Don’s onetime paramour Bobbie, the teal evening gown that Betty wore to a premiere party, and the green number Joan wore on the now-infamous lawn mower episode from Season 3 are all being auctioned off for a good cause: to benefit the Lung Cancer Program at City of Hope. The 10-day eBay auction, which begins at 10 PM EST tonight, will also feature props from the set, like vintage furnishings. If only they were auctioning off a date with Don!

Happy 68th Birthday, Betsey Johnson!

Aug 12, 2010 @ 2:06 pm

Legendary fashion designer Betsey Johnson, known for her quirky sequined-covered designs and her runway show finale cartwheel, celebrated her 68th birthday in style last night. In an bubble-gum pink dress surrounded by a crew of blonde dread-locked doppelgangers, Johnson rode in on a vintage red bike, and walked the pink carpet into her pink balloon-bedecked Soho store. Guests munched on pink cupcakes and bite-size desserts served on pink spoons, and, at the end of the night, Johnson made her exit via a pink Mini Cooper limo. Happy Birthday Betsey!

Michelle Trachtenberg’s Gossip Girl Season 4 Style: “I Carry a $15K Bag!”

Aug 12, 2010 @ 1:47 pm

At last night’s BlackBerry Torch event, we chatted with Gossip Girl‘s resident villian, Michelle Trachtenberg, about her upcoming style in Season 4. “Georgina’s back to wearing leather. She went a season and a half without wearing a lot of leather leggings and now they’re back!” she told us. And when we queried Trachtenberg on her favorite look of Georgina’s this season, she said, “I  wore a $15,000 Valentino bag straight off the runway. It had its own bodyguard! It was intense.” And as far as the rest of Georgina’s wardrobe, it mirrors Trachtenberg’s own: “I always know when my fittings are happening because [the wardrobe closet] is all black, which looks like my closet. Shocker!” Stay tuned for our weekly fashion sneak peeks from the new season, premiering September 13th.

With all of the Hollywood party reporting we do, you can be sure that we know how to throw a fantastic one, too. Tonight we’re hosting our annual Summer Soiree, a kind of back-to-school bash where we catch up with old friends and meet some of Hollywood’s freshest new faces. This year’s crowd includes Emmy nominees Chris Colfer and Lea Michele, as well as newcomers like Amber Heard and Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale, who will all mingle on the grounds of a private residence in the Hollywood Hills. Dylan’s Candy Bar and Crumbs Cupcakes will set out a sugary spread, BCBG and Oakley will offer guests some fashion goodies to take home, and no Summer Soiree would be complete without our legendary photo booth, where stars like Lily Collins, Jessica Stroup and Shenae Grimes let their hair down last year. While we’ll join in to toast to the end of the summer with a glass of champagne (or two), we’ll be up bright and early tomorrow to bring you the exclusive party details!

Gossip Girl’s Adorable Denim Duo

Aug 12, 2010 @ 12:23 pm

Spotted: Penn Badgley and Blake Lively taking a stroll through Central Park in head-to-toe blue denim. The Gossip Girl step-siblings had different takes on the popular trend:  Dan paired a classic chambray button down with dark ink-blue jeans, while Serena dressed down her sparkly minidress with a Nanette Lepore denim blazer and flip flops.  And it’s not often that we see Ms. van der Woodsen in such casual footwear—only Serena could make them work while sporting sequins and a Chanel bag!

Drew Barrymore Wears a $25 Dress on the Red Carpet

Aug 12, 2010 @ 12:20 pm

The metallic mosaic print dress that Drew Barrymore wore on the red carpet this week was high on style, but not on price—it cost her only $25! Barrymore scored the vintage dress, which was by a brand called Janine, at a thrift store in Austin, Texas. Take a cue from the stylish star by pairing affordable items with luxe accessories—her suede pumps are YSL—for a chic high-low mix.

Lea Michele’s Found Her Emmy Dress

Aug 12, 2010 @ 11:42 am

Last night, Lea Michele attended the launch of the BlackBerry Torch in L.A. (in a chic outfit from Jenni Kayne) and told us that’s she’s found her Emmy dress, explaining, “I just saw what I liked,” and that it’s “comfortable and something I want to wear all night long–it’s my birthday on the Emmys and I want to have fun all night.” But don’t expect to see her in all black (or citrus, for that matter): “It’s a color I’ve never done,” she said. And although she wouldn’t give us more details on the dress, she did tell us that she loves “Zac Posen and Oscar de la Renta.” Having worn Posen to the Tonys (right) and Oscar to the Golden Globes (left), perhaps she has one of the designers up her proverbial sleeve come Emmy night?
