For daughter Chelsea’s wedding, mother of the bride Hillary Clinton said goodbye to Washington-style pantsuits in favor of glamorous gowns. Secretary of State Clinton wore two separate but equally beautiful designs last weekend: an ocean blue printed caftan that was the perfect mix of elegance and ease for the rehearsal dinner (right), and a magenta princess-style gown with an intricate floral pattern designed by long-time family friend Oscar de la Renta for the wedding (left). We love Hillary’s glam makeover, but what do you think? Tell us in the comments section below!

I think Mrs. Clinton showed poise and confidence and should wear dresses more often. Both the caftan and the dress for Chelsea’s wedding were lovely, both colors accented her skin and age appropriatness. The dresses match her personality for each occassion. Mrs. Clinton you are a special Mom and Chelsea and Bill are so lucky to be the most important people in your life.

I love the Clintons. They all looked great at the wedding. Bill & hillary should be very proud of what they have accomplished with Chelsea. The best to them all.

I love Hillary but she completely missed the boat on this one! Caftans (like turbans) are always a fashion no-no….
and the magenta number looks like a bridesmaid dress gone wrong…..so very wrong.

-Kathleen on August 4th, 2010

I think Hillary looked lovely…as did Chelsea…I love the Clintons…

-pamela on August 5th, 2010

Love the caftan, hate the dress.

-Vanessa on August 5th, 2010

Ditto Vanessa – love the caftan, hate the dress!!

-Jamie on August 5th, 2010

…I don’t like both caftan and dress on her…

-shirling on August 5th, 2010

Hilary looks so radiant and happy, really beautiful but she could have chosen better outfits! – they are both a bit dated .

-Sheena Gerlag on August 5th, 2010

I thought Hillary’s dresses were beautiful, but her hair has ruined her looks for months even before the wedding. Chelsea was a beautiful bride, couldn’t have been more beautiful, Bill looked way too thin, worried about his health.

-Lawanna Whitfield on August 5th, 2010

she looks younger!!!!!!!,romantically elegant specially on that fuschia dress ,…..rola ezz ,Lebanese born fashion designer.

-rola on August 5th, 2010

The caftan was terrible on her. It added many pounds to her photo. The other dress was just so-so; kind of strange. She wore many more beautiful gowns in the White House. These two dresses are a “miss”. She does look very happy, so who really cares?

-allison wiggins on August 5th, 2010

Ditto Sheena…these dresses may have been glamorous, but I don’t think either one flattered her.

-Sheryl on August 5th, 2010

The Caftan was awful, she looked HUGE!! Magenta is not her color. I think she could have done a lot better than these outfits!

-Cheryl on August 5th, 2010

Wow! She looks beautiful, especially in the fuschia dress. And so happy! :)

This was a very happy Hillary and I am so glad she put on not only a smile but some makeup and a hair style. I think it looks an itsy bitsy like she might have had botox or something (which was definitely a big plus) because her whole face looked smoother and more up than down. I am so happy for her because I think most of her beauty comes from her intelligence and incredible determination to do good for our country and people don’t value that in women as much as looks. I still think she should have been President.

-Miami Olivia on August 5th, 2010

I gotta be honest..I thought these dresses were bad I don’t think either of these dresses compliment her figure. The caftan especially has an unflattering design which causes the eyes to get lost in the pattern. I think she would’ve looked better in one solid print for each dress.

-Courtney on August 5th, 2010

I agree. I don’t like either one. The top part of the magnenta dress is beautiful. However, when I first saw the full dress, I was quite shocked. It’s beautiful without the addition of the flowers. It makes her look heavy at the bottom. Less is more. Also, her choice of the Caftan was poor. It is not flattering at all.

-Vonda Henderson on August 5th, 2010

I think the COLORS of both look gorgeous on her, but I would have preferred sleek solids for a more sophistocated look. That said, I think both the dress and caftan look pretty tacky. She could have done much better. BUT that’s not the point…congratulations to both families on this wonderful occasion!

-Heather on August 5th, 2010

Never let a designer do your outfits. Her “costumes” are pathetic. Clotheswise, Ms. Clinton seems to be in a total vacuum. She should lose fifty pounds and buy some nice stuff right off the rack.

-Perry on August 5th, 2010

Really liked the caftan, it’s designed to show off her rather small waist. But the fuschia gown – uck! Way too young looking for the MOTB.

-Carmen on August 5th, 2010

I don’t like both dresses, the caftan was dated and the style of the fabric is for very old ladies a fashion no no. The magenta dress definitely did not compliment her figure and style. If she was my mother I would not agree on her dresses. I like Hillary Clinton and her husband very much. I have seen her in more stylish clothing. She is a classy and beautiful intelligent woman. The bride looked very beautiful and I loved her hair.

-Ans on August 5th, 2010

I liked her hair style when she was wearing the pink dress, but i dont like either dresses.

-ruth on August 5th, 2010

I think she would have benefitted from Slimpressions’ shapewear…Perhaps the “have nots’. She clearly has a concern about her arm flap (as so many of us do!) :)

-Amy on August 5th, 2010

The fushia dress was not a good choice she looked like she was on the set of Gone with the Wind. The caftan was also a strange choice I don’t think her figure is so bad she has to hide it. But she did look very happy which is always a good look on the MOTB. Bill looks very thin.

-Kim on August 6th, 2010

The hairstyles & gowns make Hillary look fat & older….
Nothing glamerous about either.

-Deborah Cooper on August 9th, 2010

I know we men have lots of standards to pick up a woman, and there’s one website that can almost meet all our different demands:
[====BlackwhiteCupid--C/OM====] my bros told me this; it worked for them, it worked for me; and i’m sure it’s gonna work for u, buddy!!

-sallyg on August 9th, 2010

Personally, I’m not crazy about either dress style but the colors were right on the money for her. I’m a professional color consultant and have spent 25 years of my life trying to convince women that they are undermining their beauty when they don’t wear colors that are synchronistic with their body. Here….possibly for the first time….we are seeing Hillary in not one but two colors that show her in the most positive light. This should convince anyone of the value of having a skilled professional identify their own unique palette of optimal colors.

-Donna Cognac on August 9th, 2010

I agree with those who liked the colors for Hillary but detested the gowns. *I* could have found dresses for Hillary that flattered her figure better than those she (or her designers) selected.

-Joy M. Herring on August 14th, 2010

Neither dress was flattering. Why don’t women who can afford the clothes buy those that are flattering to their bodies. Mrs. Obama looks huge at times with her outfits. The Fuscia dress just plays up Mrs. Clintons flabby arms and hips!!ugh!

-mab on August 16th, 2010

Both of Hillary’s dresses looked so dated! Terrible choices. And her hair, OMG!

Chelsea’s dress was beautiful.

-Kaye Kornegay on September 22nd, 2010

Aloha
This is way late but, being a Repuplican and all, I think Mrs. Clinton looked beautiful reminds me of the White House days,
Wish she had won the election, she would have done a good job.
