Spice Up Your Fall Wardrobe

Jul 27, 2010 @ 2:34 pm

The following is a guest post from one of our favorite online shopping destinations, Decadestwo.

Minimalism ruled the Fall 2010 runways. Don’t get us wrong, we loved the architecturally inspired cuts and colors; but, after a awhile we felt adrift in a sartorial sea of stone and slate. So we’ve picked a few fall pieces that highlight upcoming trends to show how you can inject luxe textures (like this airy confection of a dress) and bright colors into your clothing collection. Click through our gallery to see ideas of how to avoid a washed-out fall wardrobe. For more information or to purchase, please contact lizzy@decadestwo.com.

Featuring rich jewel tones, vibrant prints, and sumptuous brocades and furs, Oscar De La Renta‘s Fall 2010 collection is making us count down the days until the end of summer. But have you ever actually seen the work that goes into the making of a designer’s line? The exclusive video above, which offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at de la Renta’s New York atelier, provides a glimpse into the process of taking an item from the sample room to the runway; even those who sat front row at the fall show didn’t get this good of a view! Plus, check out a few of our favorite looks from the collection after the jump.

The Jolie-Pitt Kids are Seriously Stylish

Jul 27, 2010 @ 11:30 am

Angelina Jolie, still traveling the world to promote her new movie Salt, was snapped with four of her six children at a Tokyo airport. And we must say, we’re blown away by the way that each little one was rocking his or her own individual style. Perpetually-mohawked Maddox looked tough in a white tank and cargos, while little sister Zahara celebrated summer in a white-ensemble topped with a yellow cardigan. Tomboyish Shiloh embodied preppy East Coast chic, while dapper Pax won the day in a simple khaki suit complete with coordinating shades. So cute!

Rachel Zoe on Season 3: “It’s Vastly Different.”

You may think you know exactly what to expect from the upcoming third season of The Rachel Zoe Project. As Zoe herself put it in a recent telephone call, “Lots of fashion. Lots of photo shoots. All the usual trials and tribulations of Rachel Zoe, Incorporated.” But—while the new episodes will certainly have all that (and then some)—the celebrity stylist extraordinaire also said that the underlying storyline of the third season is “very different. It’s vastly different. You’ll see a new dynamic develop between the team.” More

Naomi Watts to Front Ann Taylor Fall 2010 Campaign

Oscar-nominated actress Naomi Watts is taking on a brand new role: model. She’s been tapped to be the face of Ann Taylor‘s fall campaign. Following in the footsteps of previous ad stars Milla Jovovich and Heidi Klum, Naomi posed for legendary fashion photographer Peter Lindbergh in the collection, which a release noted “was inspired by Ernest Hemingway’s A Moveable Feast and focuses on mixing European sophistication with timeless American style.” Fall 2010 marks the one-year anniversary of head designer Lisa Axelson—who’s done some amazing things for the brand—and the new collection includes plenty of chic staples, including little black dresses, statement jewels, leopard print, and luxe coats. Watts is certainly perfect for the part—in our opinion, the cool blonde epitomizes classic style, as you can see in this exclusive behind-the-scenes shot. For more on Ann Taylor and the fall line, visit the brand on Facebook, and make sure to flip through the AT Insider tab, which features quizzes, videos, and exclusive deals. Cartier International Polo Party Brings Out the Stars

Last weekend, a mix of British and American stars and socialites headed to Surrey, England to celebrate at Cartier’s International Polo Party. And we love seeing them in their summertime best! Both Cat Deeley (who is always fashion-forward on SYTYCD) and Leslie Mann opted to wear flowing, printed designs (Deeley’s was vintage, Mann’s Louis Vuitton) to the polo match, while Camilla Belle kept things crisp in white (with just a dash of color). Geri Halliwell broke the party’s casual fashion mold by sporting a skin-tight, figure-flattering Herve Leger minidress. The highlight of the event (besides the match)? The traditional afternoon tea, of course.

Scarlett’s New Do: The Choppy Bob

Jul 26, 2010 @ 4:05 pm

This weekend, Scarlett Johansson attended Comic Con (looking stunning in an all-black Dolce & Gabbana pantsuit) to reveal her new role as the Black Widow in the upcoming flick The Avengers. But she also revealed something else–her brand new locks! She transformed her signature long strands into a center-parted, slightly rumpled long bob, and we love it. The style is relaxed, youthful and a fabulous juxtaposition to the serious suit she rocked while touting her latest gig. But Johansson isn’t the first to lop off her locks: It appears that several celebrities are forgoing their former styles in favor of the LOB (read: long bob). What do you think of Johansson’s latest look? Tell us in the comments section below!
