Katie Holmes & Naomi Watts Debut New Hairstyles

Jul 20, 2010 @ 12:04 pm

Two star-studded premieres with buzzworthy new ‘dos to match! At The Extra Man premiere in N.Y.C., Katie Holmes paired her Celine Pre-Fall 2010 striped tunic with a wavy style finished with side-swept bangs, And Naomi Watts debuted a blunt, graphic cut with similar light bangs at the L.A. premiere of Salt. Hairstylist Robert Vetica, who created the look, told us: “Naomi’s bob was grown out and she asked me what I thought we should do next. I said, ‘Let me cut the bottom into a long, inverted bob and I’ll make it really blunt.’ The bangs softened it and kept it modern so it wasn’t too ’70s disco.” As for styling, a dab of Moroccanoil Light smoothed and detangled. “Blond hair snarls really easily, so this made it sleeker and easier to comb,” he said. Thinking of making the cut? Try on the most popular celebrity bangs hairstyles in our Hollywood Makeover tool now!

3 Rules for Effortless Style

Jul 20, 2010 @ 12:02 pm

The following is a guest post from one of our favorite online shopping destinations, Decadestwo.

Decadestwo Style Consultant Megan Anton has the sort of effortless style that women everywhere are clamoring for. Her look can be described as two parts rock-n-roll, and one part romantic—with a touch of Falcon Crest. She rocked slouchy bags before we even knew to beg for Balenciagas and began sporting animal prints with black lace stockings seasons before they appeared on every Fall 2010 runway. No wonder Anton is our go-to gal for sartorial suggestions! First tip: Find a classic investment piece that has a twist, like this leather motorcycle jacket (L’Wren Scott, $1,100). Want to know more? Click through our gallery to find out what Megan’s cardinal principles are and see some of her favorite pieces right now. For more information or to purchase, please contact lizzy@decadestwo.com.

The Look of VH1′s Do Something Awards: Stylishly Sweet

Jul 20, 2010 @ 11:06 am

Last night, VH1 premiered its first annual Do Something Awards, a ceremony which honors celebrities, athletes and common folk who have effected positive changes in the world. The big winner was 23-year-old Jessica Posner, who collected the $100,000 prize for her efforts in helping combat gender inequalities in Kiberia.  We were truly taken by all of the charitable efforts highlighted at last night’s event (there were definitely a few tears), which was hosted by Glee star Jane Lynch. And even though Tyra Banks and Christina Applegate each took home statuettes (for Do Something With Style and Do Something Kick Ass for Survival Awards, respectively), it was Megan Fox who won our award for most stylish star: She rocked an Azzedine Alaia frock in a muted palette of peaches, nudes and caramels. Angelina & Brad’s Sexy Salt Style

Jul 20, 2010 @ 10:20 am

Last night, half of Hollywood went to Grauman’s Chinese Theater to celebrate Angelina Jolie and her new spy thriller, Salt. And the guest of honor looked positively radiant with partner Brad Pitt on her arm. Jolie chose a simple, sexy beaded LBD (by Emporio Armani) paired with nude peep-toe Ferragamo pumps, while Pitt looked drop-dead and dashing in a three-piece suit by Tom Ford. Seeing them rock the red carpet, we realized how much we’ve missed these two! “I haven’t worked in over a year,” Jolie told In Style. “I had two babies, I’ve been in my nightgown. So it was nice to get out, get aggressive, and do some serious stunts [for the film].” And how does Brad feel about Angie’s action-heavy roles? “He likes it,” she said with a smile. “We met that way. When I’m home with the kids… I just feel like somebody’s mom. But when I am working I feel very empowered. I love both.” When asked about the rumors that her next powerful part will be Cleopatra, Jolie replied: “I would be honored. I am fascinated by her. I love history, I love that part of the world. But we haven’t gotten the script yet, so we’ll see.”
