The secret’s out: Those stars who look like they rolled out of bed (or yoga class) glowing and gorgeous? Not necessarily so. “There’s a relaxed feel to this season’s beauty,” says makeup artist Emma Kotch, who works with Kate Bosworth. “But don’t think it’s easy. It’s actually more challenging because you have to soften everything.” We asked pros (and one of the stars herself) to describe how they create a bare-faced effect (from foundation to mascara) on four actresses with a range of skin tones. Must-have bag alert: Hollywood stars currently love 3.1 Phillip Lim’s studded Edie bag and Mulberry’s modern Neely tote. Rachel Bilson, Leighton Meester and Diane Kruger have all been spotted carrying Lim’s tough but sweet shoulder bag, and the ladylike and work-appropriate Mulberry tote is making splashes both on- and off-screen: Blake Lively sported the bag on the set of Gossip Girl, while Michelle Trachtenberg and Olivia Palermo hit the streets with it. Luckily, they’re both available to purchase now—the Edie bag on Net-A-Porter.com in a muted gunmetal gray and the Neely tote on My-Wardrobe.com in a striking steel blue leather.
Spotted: Kelly Rutherford, Clemence Poesy and Blake Lively in some serious floor-length gowns on the set of Gossip Girl. Are they feting another foreign ambassador? Or attending an exclusive art auction, perhaps? One thing’s for certain, they’re up for best-dressed wherever they’re headed. Serena steals the show as per usual in an embellished Jenny Packham gown. Eva (played by Poesy) makes a fashion-forward play in a multi-colored strapless Carlos Miele gown. And Lily is every bit the sophisticate in a regal purple Reem Acra gown and statement-making gold necklace.

Burberry’s chief creative officer Christopher Bailey brought a taste of London to L.A. this week with a very British tea party to celebrate the launch of Burberry Beauty and the guests dressed in their ladylike best. Lake Bell and Kate Bosworth donned their prettiest, laciest Burberry frocks for the fete (held at Tom Cruise‘s former home), while Rachel Zoe and Glee‘s Jayma Mays sipped tea in the garden. Wimbledon champion Serena Williams wore a sophisticated aubergine silk dress and freshened up her look with the new makeup collection before heading off to the ESPY Awards to accept the award for Best Female Tennis Player.
Carrie Underwood looked like a modern day princess on her wedding day, thanks in part to the gorgeous tiara she wore for the ceremony, and we’ve got the exclusive details on the crowning jewel! The 40-carat (that’s right, 40) 18kt white gold tiara was a wedding gift from hubby Mike Fisher, who worked hand-in-hand with Underwood’s favorite jeweler Johnathon Arndt (he’s also responsible for their wedding bands) on the custom creation. Arndt looked to the Victorian era for inspiration, using both floral and vine designs reminiscent of the period. “This is something you can pass onto your children and grandchildren so they, too, can share that special wedding day,” Arndt told the newlyweds. But Underwood’s penchant for sparkling accessories didn’t stop at jewelry: The bride wore Stuart Weitzman’s “Avalon” heels, which she had custom-designed in Pink Swarovski crystal to match her wedding colors, with her Chantilly lace Monique Lhuillier gown. Although you can’t purchase this exact pair, you can snag a similar style in black or navy. At $675, they’re not the cheapest, but they will add glamour to, well, just about anything.
