This summer, as Grease returns to theaters in sing-a-long form (it’s being billed as “the original high school musical”), and the surprisingly unstoppable Step Up series releases its third installment (in 3-D, no less), it’s clear: Films that feature dance are bigger than ever. Accordingly, we’ve compiled a list of some of the best dance scenes ever shown on-screen. Click through to check out our favorites (including Funny Face, Flashdance, and Dirty Dancing, above) and be sure to vote for your favorite in the comments section below.

Is Lady Gaga Launching a Perfume?

Jul 14, 2010 @ 3:42 pm

It’s being reported that Lady Gaga will soon be releasing her own fragrance with beauty giant Coty, the corporate home to celebrity perfumers Jennifer Lopez and Sarah Jessica Parker. Gaga is certainly a style icon, but we’re interested to see how her unique tastes will be channeled into a scent: Word is that the smell is going to be “unusual.” The bottle design, at least, should be a no-brainer, as many of Gaga’s architectural gowns could easily stand, miniaturized, on our vanity. (Remember that Armani orbit dress?) Will you wear Gaga’s scent? Tell us in the comments section below!

UPDATE: According to WWD, a rep for Coty has denied that Gaga has inked a fragrance deal with the brand.

Get the Dish on Carrie Underwood’s Dream Wedding

Jul 14, 2010 @ 3:11 pm

Now that Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher (excuse us, Mr. & Mrs. Fisher) are honeymooning across the world in Bora Bora, more details about their gorgeous Southern nuptials are being spilled—including exclusive pictures of the ceremony and glowing bride in this week’s People (left). Underwood looks like a modern day princess on the cover, part in fact due to the sparkling custom-made Johnathon Arndt—the same jeweler responsible for her engagement and wedding ring—tiara that she accessorized her Monique Lhuillier lace gown with. But the country star had good times in mind too when she opted for a shorter, strapless Lhuillier design for the reception: “The wedding dress was huge,” Underwood tells People. “I wanted to get my boogie on, so I had to change. We can’t wait to get a look at more photos of the stunning bride!

Taylor Momsen Revealed as Madonna’s “Material Girl”

Jul 14, 2010 @ 1:18 pm

Macy’s released a faceless teaser campaign for Madonna and Lourdes’s new fashion line, Material Girl, last month to get the dialogue going about who would be the celebrity muse. And after much speculation, it has been confirmed that it is indeed Taylor Momsen! The juniors collection mixes fierce and feminine elements, like studded leather and floral prints—totally on par with Momsen’s rocker girl style. Stay tuned for more behind-the-scenes scoop on Madonna, Lola and Taylor’s collab later this month on InStyle.com.

It’s Official: Glee‘s Doing Britney

Jul 14, 2010 @ 12:57 pm

Gleeks went nuts for the Madonna episode last season (more than 13.5 million people tuned in) and now the cult show’s producers are plotting a Britney Spears episode. Sprightly Cheerio, Brittany (Heather Morris), will be singing two of Spears’s biggest hits, which are yet to be announced. Our guess? The high school-set “Hit Me Baby One More Time,” complete with plaid skirts, pigtails, knee socks and midriffs!

News about Chelsea Clinton’s wedding to investment banker Marc Mezvinsky has been kept tightly under wraps—although we do know who she’s tapped to design her bridal gown—but details of the guest list are beginning to emerge. It’s been reported that both President Barack Obama (and wife Michelle—we can’t wait to see what she wears) and Oprah Winfrey are amongst the 500 invitees. Other big names on the list include Barbara Streisand, Steven Spielberg and media mogul Ted Turner. The Hudson Valley News has reported that next week’s nuptials will be held at Astor Court in the luxe-yet-countrified town of Rhineback, New York. We’d love to be a fly on the wall to see Chelsea walk down the aisle.
