Marc Jacobs to Launch E-Commerce for Fall

Jul 12, 2010 @ 4:19 pm

Marcjacobs.com has about as many bells and whistles as one would expect from a leading fashion designer’s site—including livestream videos, gorgeous photos, news, and gossip—but it’s been missing one obvious thing: A shopping cart! Like many high-end retailers, Marc Jacobs has been slow to the e-commerce trend, but he has finally announced plans to sell clothes on his site, starting in September. Robert Duffy, the President and Vice Chairman of Marc Jacobs, even hinted that there will be exclusive duds on the relaunched site. “I want to give people a reason to go there,” he told The New York Times.

Check Out Carrie Underwood’s New Wedding Ring!

Jul 12, 2010 @ 4:07 pm

We already told you all about Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher‘s wedding (including her gorgeous Monique Lhuillier gown). Now, we’ve got a peek at her new wedding band! Underwood was spotted at LAX leaving for her honeymoon and in place of  her Johnathon Arndt yellow diamond engagement ring was a glimmering channel-set diamond band, also from Johnathon Arndt (the exclusive designer is one of her favorites). Mr. & Mrs. Fisher didn’t pose for many photos—they were catching a flight, after all—before jetting of to the South Pacific islands of Tahiti and Bora Bora.

Liv Tyler & Chess Champion Team Up for G-Star

Jul 12, 2010 @ 1:32 pm

Liv Tyler has debuted her second round of ads as the face of denim brand G-Star Raw. But this time, Tyler is not alone as the brand’s ambassador: joining her is world chess champion Magnus Carlson, who’ll be the face of the men’s line. Together, the beauty of Tyler and the intelligence of Carlson create “combination of contrasting and unexpected elements…that is one of G-Star’s key philosophies,” the brand said in a statement.  Both Tyler and Carlson are seen modeling the label’s signature distressed denim as well as the new Correct Line range, which features pieces like tailored jackets.  And if you’re in NYC this fall, Carlson and the G-Star models will be hosting a chess competition at the super-trendy Cooper Square hotel to help promote the fall collection on September 10.  To see the rest of Tyler’s ads and one of Carlson’s, click through our gallery and then tell us what you think in the comments below.

Taylor Swift Plays Bride in Music Video

Jul 12, 2010 @ 11:23 am

Okay, relax: Even though there were many celebrity weddings this weekend, 20-year-old Taylor Swift was not one of the brides. Instead, the singer donned a princess-worthy bridal ballgown while filming a video for her single “Love Story” in Kennebunk, Maine. The strapless sweetheart neckline beautifully complemented the shirred bodice, full skirt and ethereal chiffon fabric, and we also love the crystal-studded belt and delicate headband placed in her loose updo—both are major bridal trends right now. But it looks like Taylor’s fans will have to wait to see the clip: Her mother reportedly said the video won’t debut for another six months.

Carrie Underwood & Emily Blunt: And the Brides Wore…

Jul 12, 2010 @ 10:14 am

Two celebrity couples married this weekend—Carrie Underwood wed Mike Fisher in Greensboro, Georgia and Emily Blunt said ‘I do’ to John Krasinski in Lake Como, Italy—and we have wedding gown details at last! Underwood opted for celebrity-favorite Monique Lhuillier (as did her bridesmaids), donning a simple yet glamorous custom-made Chantilly lace gown. Blunt, whose guests included George Clooney, chose a draped chiffon gown with sweetheart neckline and embroidered details courtesy of Marchesa. Although official pictures have yet to be released, no doubt both stars looked absolutely radiant.

Shakira Closes World Cup in Cavalli

Jul 12, 2010 @ 9:18 am

Last week, we gave you a sneak peek at the custom Cavalli costume Shakira planned to wear at the World Cup closing ceremony, but the sketch paled in comparison to the real thing! Every single neon and fringed detail literally lit up the stage as the signer performed alongside African dancers, costumed elephants, and an incredible light and fireworks display. Shakira’s hip-swiveling rendition of “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” proved to be almost as captivating as the actual World Cup Final itself, which ended with Spain winning 1-0 in overtime.
