January Jones Debuts Fierce Red Bob

Jul 6, 2010 @ 1:55 pm

Following in Jessica Biel‘s footsteps, Mad Men star January Jones is the second “cover” girl for celebrity hairstylist Mark Townsend’s new online magazine, MarkTBeauty.com. Jones, still best known as ladylike Betty Draper, was styled as a 1920s Parisian femme fatale: “You always see January as this ’50s, sort of Grace Kelly character,” explains Townsend. “I wanted to really show off the power of hair and makeup with a bit of a ’20s influence.” The coupe de grace was unquestionably the fierce red bob Jones wore, shown with intense black lipstick, falsies and dramatic retro-style eyebrows. Check out more photos of Jones as a redhead in our gallery below and be sure to tell us what you think!

Lady Gaga is Facebook’s Most Popular Living Star

Jul 6, 2010 @ 12:07 pm

She’s already the most-watched star on YouTube, where her videos have been viewed an astonishing one billion times. Now, Lady Gaga’s set yet another internet record, having become the first living person to amass over ten million Facebook friends, beating out President Obama. (She’s bested only by Michael Jackson, the dearly departed King of Pop, who has fourteen million buddies; considering that Gaga adds over 14,000 new friends a day—she’s already passed eleven million—she may overtake him yet.) In response to the news, Gaga posted a thank you video on the site in which she told her friends/ fans, “I love you guys so much . . . Thank you so much for all of your love and your support and for sticking by me through The Fame and The Fame Monster. I love you. Become my friend on Facebook. I’ll never forget you.”

Madonna Stars in “Sequel” Ads for Dolce & Gabbana

Jul 6, 2010 @ 11:23 am

Madonna newest set of advertisements for Dolce & Gabbana were revealed and designer Stefano Gabbana describes the evocative black-and-white images as a kind of sequel to Madonna’s Spring/Summer campaign for the Italian label. This is “the second half of the movie,” he told WWD. “We wanted to continue pushing our current message that show’s fashion’s more human nature, and our heritage.” The Fall/Winter ads follow the star—clad in ample quantities of black lace—as she shops for groceries, shares what WWD calls “an intimate moment in the bedroom with her newborn daughter,” and waits while an older woman alters the hem of her skirt. Gossip Girl Stars Get Parisian Chic

Jul 6, 2010 @ 10:27 am

Spotted: Blake Lively and Leighton Meester enjoying a famous French delicacy—Laduree Macarons—while shooting Season 4 of their series in the City of Lights. Yes, the Gossip Girl stars are in Paris for the summer to mend their broken hearts, and (naturally) their wardrobes have adapted to their new surroundings: Blair Waldorf exchanged her go-to sheath dresses for a voluminous printed Moschino frock, while Serena van der Woodsen, in a George Chakra couture dress, opted for hip over in-your-face sexy by pairing her sequined number with a casual blazer and oxfords. And two other staples of Parisian chic—the hat (a beret for Blair and a boater for Serena) and chain-strap bags (by Chanel, bien sur)—are also, of course, on the style menu. (Fittingly, Lively has been spotted outside the Ritz with Karl Lagerfeld, suggesting rumors of a guest appearance by the famed Chanel designer.) More

Now that beach season is finally here, it’s time to rock some sizzling summer style. Although skin may be in, our favorite pieces maintain a little mystery, rather than exposing the full monty. The summer trends we’re embracing focus on bright and bold prints, architectural details (like this structured Valli dress, right), chic-cutouts and sexy sheer fabrics.  Check out the gallery below for a few of our favorites that will work from cocktails with the girls to a surfin’ safari. For further information or to purchase any of these pieces, please contact lizzy@decadestwo.com.

Angela Lindvall Designs Charitable & Eco-Friendly Bracelet

Jul 6, 2010 @ 10:00 am

Activist/supermodel Angela Lindvall is collaborating with Bali-based jewelry brand John Hardy on a gorgeous new line of sustainable jewelry. The Hijau Collection, which takes its name from the Balinese word for “green,” was conceived after Lindvall visited the company’s headquarters, and was designed with the help of John Hardy Creative Director and Designer Guy Bedarida; the pair was inspired by super-sustainable bamboo (which has, of course, been used as a motif in jewelry for years). Their delicate, sterling-silver-and-gemstone creations retail for between $295 and $3000 at Saks Fifth Avenue, but Lindvall also designed a woven organic cotton cord bracelet (right) which sells for just $95. Because 100% of the profits from that piece will go to ForestEthics, an organization that protects endangered forests, it’s green in more ways than one.
