Gap Debuts Even More Perfect Tees & Tanks

Jun 30, 2010 @ 4:52 pm

They say an artist never really finishes his work, he merely abandons it. But the T-shirt gurus over at Gap–who’ve been designing our favorite tees and tanks since we discovered them in the 8th grade—refuse to relinquish their quest for perfection. They just unveiled a new and improved Perfect T collection which boasts slightly more feminine (read: slimming) silhouettes, relaxed burnout knits and more versatile colors like soft brown and aubergine. Our favorite style? The racerback tank that (and yes, we did try it on) manages to perfectly cover, ahem, those underarm discrepancies, while showing off our shoulders. The Perfect T collection debuts tomorrow at Gap and gap.com.

Bridget Jones: The Musical

Jun 30, 2010 @ 3:18 pm

Fans of the 2001 film Bridget Jones’s Diary—and the 1996 novel on which it was based—will be pleased to hear that a new version of the romantic comedy is in the works: Author Helen Fielding, director Stephen Daldry and pop star Lily Allen are all collaborating on a musical version that they hope to stage in London’s West End in early 2011. The production team’s last screen-to-stage project was the commercially successful and critically acclaimed musical “Billy Elliot,” so our hopes are high; we hear that at a recent rough workshop the actress Sheridan Smith read the Renee Zellweger role. We can’t wait to see who’ll play Bridget’s paramours Daniel Cleaver and Mark Darcy—difficult as it is to imagine any actor being more devilishly charming than Hugh Grant, or as upstandingly romantic as Colin Firth, we’re willing to give the new guys a chance.

Heidi Klum Plans Yet Another New TV Show

Jun 30, 2010 @ 2:47 pm

Just in time to remind us that Tyra Banks isn’t the world’s only workaholic supermodel, Project Runway host Heidi Klum has announced plans to produce yet another television show (she’s already executive producing Models of the Runway and working on a reality series with her husband, Seal). Variety.com reports that the new show, called Seriously Funny Kids, “will go on location to where the kids are and document their reactions to various scenarios.” Considering that Mr. and Mrs. Samuel—what, you don’t think Seal has a last name?—already have four children of their own, it’s easy to imagine how Heidi might have cooked up the idea. But we’re eager to see what these “scenarios” might be (and whether any of them involve Tim Gunn).

Buy An Old Navy Tee, Send Another Overseas

Jun 30, 2010 @ 1:05 pm

July 4th is more than just a three-day beach weekend . . . it’s also a holiday to celebrate our country. Old Navy‘s getting in on the act by offering their signature flag tees for just $5, and if you buy one by July 5th, they’ll send another, free of charge, to a U.S. soldier serving abroad. The tees come in six unique styles and four different colors, so they’ll suit (almost) anyone’s patriotic taste.

Disney Stars Rule Fashion Noms at Teen Choice Awards

Jun 30, 2010 @ 12:56 pm

For 2010, the Teen Choice Awards have announced a slew of new categories (including Best Liplock and Best Hissyfit) but the bracket that caught our eye was the “Red Carpet Fashion Icon—Female,” in which Disney stars (and Nick Jonas ex-girlfriends) Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez will face off. However, given that the other nominees are Lady Gaga, Katy Perry—who’ll host the show when it airs on August 9th, and is also a contender for “Female Hottie”—and Eva Longoria Parker, it’s not entirely certain that either teen queen will win.

Tyra Announces New Beauty and Fashion Site

Jun 30, 2010 @ 12:34 pm

She’s already got her own online “magazine” at Tyra.com. But now, the model-turned-mogul Tyra Banks has announced a partnership with the California-based company Demand Media to create, as she says, “a new beauty and fashion online media brand.” In a statement posted on her site, Tyra says, “I’m very excited about all the fantastic videos, how-to’s, photos, mobile apps, quizzes, interviews and articles we’ll be bringing you later this year. I’m also thrilled that I’ll have this powerful new platform to reach new audiences around the world.”

Is This Gaga’s Craziest Transformation Yet?

Jun 30, 2010 @ 12:25 pm

She’s become known for her wild sartorial choices—having donned everything from head-to-toe PVC (to meet the Queen of England) to a tiny black bra-and-panty set (to watch the Mets)—but now Lady Gaga has got fans talking about an outfit that, on (at least) half the population, wouldn’t cause them to bat an eyelash: In a newly-leaked Japanese Men’s Vogue fashion spread, a model who looks an awful lot like the star in drag poses in a whiteshirt and a black tuxedo. Given that the pics of one “Jo Calderone” were posted on photographer Nick Knight‘s ShowStudio.com (which last month hosted a two-hour interview with the singer), and that the magazine’s fashion director is Gaga stylist Nicola Formichetti, we don’t think we’re going too far out on a limb in saying that you are now seeing Sir Gaga.

Glee‘s Jane Lynch to Host VH1′s Do Something Awards

Jun 30, 2010 @ 12:15 pm

One of our favorite Gleeks, Sue Sylvester (a.k.a. Jane Lynch) has lent her hilarity to the VH1 Do Something Awards, which are slated to air live on July 19th at 9/8 Central on VH1. We’re excited to see some of our favorite stars in a different light: as do-gooders. The awards will honor young people’s commitments to social change and will include actors, musician and athletes. And if the possibility of catching a glimpse of nominees like Leo DiCaprio, Salma Hayek, Lady Gaga and Derek Jeter in one room isn’t enough reason to tune in, then Jane Lynch’s antics should be. Check out the extra promo videos after the jump for a good laugh (and perhaps some charitable inspiration).
