Megan Fox will soon appear in the comic book adaptation Jonah Hex, which takes place in the Wild West, but all anyone who’s seen the trailer wants to talk about is her tiny waist. “It’s small,” the star admitted to MTV. With the help of vintage corsets, she explained, “we got it down to about 18 inches.” That, you may recall, is Scarlett O’Hara territory. Megan said she wouldn’t mind if the close-fitting foundation garments made a comeback: “I enjoy them . . .  maybe I’m sick,” she joked. But after hearing that the ones she wore in the film “would leave these deep grooves, these deep indents from the boning in the corsets, for the whole next day,” we’re happy to leave them in the past. Do you think corsets should have a place in your closet? Tell us in the comments below.

Absolutely not! Those things are unhealthy and will actually move your organs around with daily use. Women of the Victorian era – those who could afford it – would sometimes have ribs removed to make their waists even smaller and pinch themselves in whalebone – later steel – to the point of fainting. At balls, smelling salts were a must because the slightest exertion and the poor lady was out cold! They even put children and babies in those things!

In fact, the last princess dowager of China was appalled to see western women in those hidous garments even though she had tiny crippling bound feet. She immediately ordered up Chinese style clothing for visitors to get them out of the corsets. She thought they were barbaric.

Scary. I would imagine everything that was squished in. Would eventually plop out all over the place. Not a pretty sight on a romantic evening. lol

I definitely think corsets should make a comback. You are not required to smash your guts in with them. There are some very pretty ones out there that would look great over a blouse. Waist-cinchers are about the same but of course only go around the waist – like a very wide belt. Even without lacing a corset or waist cincher to bone-crushing narrowness it can provide plenty of definition to a waistline.
I was just at a renaissance fair this past weekend and ladies there were wearing corsets over their dresses. So feminine and sexy!

Love, Love,LOVE corsets. THey should definitely make a comback… as outerwear though.

You don’t have to be ridiculous and go for a teeny tiny wasp waist. Simply wearing the garment is sexy enough!

Look at these gorgeous ones and tell me they don’t belong out in public http://swimwearandlingerie.wordpress.com/

Nuff said.

Cheers,

Maggie

I don’t really have much of a problem with corsets so long as they aren’t doing any kind of internal damage, but Megan looks horribly unappealing in that picture; if nothing short of a skeleton.

She has a pretty body, she does not need waist cinchers at all, but I really need ones!!!

Absolutely they should make a comeback. Why should women try to look their best when they are out? Plus they are plenty types of shape wear brands out there that actually help you lose weight and make your healthier. I usually use the Co’Coon brand for girdles.
