Rachel Zoe On Latest QVC Collection: “I’m Kind Of Freaking Out!”

Jun 10, 2010 @ 5:44 pm

“I’m kind of freaking out,” Rachel Zoe admitted, while giving us an exclusive guided preview of her new fall collection for QVC. “Look, those are my initials on that bag. I’ve never had my name on anything before!” After browsing through the faux-fur outerwear, chic accessories, and luxe leather handbags yesterday at New York City’s Gramercy Park Hotel, we’re pretty sure that Zoe’s fans will freak out as well—after all, her first collection for the channel, which debuted during QVC’s Shop the Show event at last February’s New York Fashion Week, enjoyed massive success. And now, the star stylist has added even more to-die-for pieces to the line. But the best part may be the price: Most of the items retail for under $100.   More

Get the Scoop on Glee‘s Sold-Out Betsey Dresses

Jun 10, 2010 @ 3:54 pm

We already knew that Betsey Johnson designed the kicky gold brocade dresses that the girls of New Directions wore in Glee‘s first season finale. But we were surprised to discover that the little sequined numbers worn by the ladies in their rival group, Vocal Adrenaline, were also by Ms. Johnson. Turns out that Glee’s costume designers are big-time Betsey fans and buy straight from the store all the time! Both the “Goldie” and the “Sugar and Spice” styles are sold out online, but an insider tells InStyle that they’re still available in most of the Betsey Johnson stores. If, for some reason, you can’t find your size, take heart: Betsey’s releasing a silver version of the Goldie in August.

Thread Social Teams Up with Priscilla of Boston

Jun 10, 2010 @ 1:17 pm

We are huge fans of Thread Social‘s uber-girly party dresses, and we love Priscilla of Boston‘s refined approach to bridal, so we were thrilled to learn that the two labels are collaborating. The new collection of special occasion frocks, featuring Thread signatures like dramatic bows and asymmetrical cuts, debuts later this month, and with price tags starting at $250. And, despite the venue, the dresses are not just for weddings: “[They are also] are for the girl who… is looking for that perfect party dress.” designers Beth Blake and Melissa Akey said. While the collection will initially be available in only three of P.O.B’s salons—Philadelphia, PA, San Jose, CA and Scottsdale, AZ—you can expect to see more locations stocking the line come fall.  Click on the gallery to see more looks from the Thread Social for Priscilla of Boston collection.

Tory Burch Does Denim

Jun 10, 2010 @ 1:16 pm

Finally, we’ll have a pair of jeans polished enough to pair with our favorite Reva ballet flats: Tory Burch has announced she’ll be adding tons of denim pieces to her upcoming collections. Although her jeans arsenal already includes skinny and boot-leg cuts, Burch is planning on adding denim leggings, stretch corduroy, a Sgt. Pepper jacket and highly-detailed printed denim. That last may seem a bit bizarre, but the designer is confident that her “prints really translate to denim.” We can’t wait to see what Tory has up her (awesomely-buttoned) sleeve.

Help to Clean Up the Gulf of Mexico

Last month we told you about an oddly stylish pairing—hair and hosiery—that is being used to make booms to clean up oil in the Gulf of Mexico, and how nonprofit organization Matter of Trust is in need of cash donations to help transport the oil-absorbing booms. We got an update from the charity’s president, Lisa Gautier, and so far InStyle.com readers have helped to raise $7,700 for the cause. Gautier’s promise to personally match monetary donations dollar-for-dollar up to $50,000 still stands, and while hair and hose are being donated in substantial amounts, they still need financial aid. “The movement is better than we ever imagined but we still need the funds to transport the booms,” she said. To donate to this amazing charity, visit matteroftrust.org.

Lady Gaga’s Crazy Graduation Cap

Jun 10, 2010 @ 12:20 pm

No matter where Lady Gaga goes, she’s always dressed to thrill—even at her little sister’s high school graduation. Arriving at her own alma mater on New York’s Upper East Side to celebrate Natali’s big day, Gaga came bedecked in a sequined nude-and-lace bodysuit, paired with her famed heel-less platforms and an oversized, veiled black hat. It was, perhaps, a little much . . . but with the  Alejandro songstress, who would expect anything less?
