At last night’s Crystal + Lucy Awards in L.A., Vanessa Hudgens admitted that she’d taken a pair of scissors to her MaxMara gown before walking out the door. “It was too formal, so to make it more of a cocktail dress I chopped the slip,” said Hudgens, whose DIY alterations took the look of the black chiffon floor-length gown from demure to daring. “My stylist and I always end up reworking dresses. I like to have fun with fashion.” Boyfriend Zac Efron wasn’t on hand to give his opinion, but the actress did get a thumbs up from stylish pal Nikki Reed. “Nikki and I went over our outfits earlier today, but then I decided to add my own flair,” Hudgens said of the last-minute decision to shorten her hem by several inches. The finishing touches to her custom creation? “A pair of YSL heels and a Chanel clutch, because they both go with everything.”

Very chic! I love the short slip-

The short dress is very nice, it gives the look a young feel, while the long sheer veil covers it just enough….
The hate comments are ridiculous, they have nothing to do with style or fashion.People with no self control whinning about women’s “dirty lines” simply because they have no self control to divert their eyes…

Alana, the “hate talk” here is harsh and not right; but there is a little bit of truth in them.
Since when is seeing “dirty lines” about self-control? And why do you like dresses that force you to “divert your eyes?” What is the point of that?
The exposed skin is there, and you’re seeing it, too, though you are not admitting it. (Let me assure you that I can see it, too. I’m not trying to judge you.) The only control you and I have over seeing it is simply not talking about it. The fact that we try to ignore it doesn’t mean it’s not there; and admitting that exposing your body like that should not be done because it can turn someone’s mind to thoughts they shouldn’t contemplate is not disgusting or an act of no self-control. It is simply the truth.

The comments here are a too harsh, though; I highly doubt Miss Hudgens has an axe to grind against humanity. :P If that’s how she wants to dress (I’m sure she does.), then so be it; but she is asking for that kind of attention by wearing that dress. To me it’s sad, though, that “age-appropriate” for her nowadays means showing off her body. A girl can look just as beautiful, and even more so, with a dress that covers her a bit more.
