Happy 40th Birthday Naomi Campbell!

May 21, 2010 @ 11:29 am

Supermodel Naomi Campbell turns 40 on Saturday and is prepping for her major milestone with a chic party on the French Riviera. The statuesque beauty has already been spotted in Cannes with her Russian boyfriend Vladimir Doronin—she glowed in a metallic feathered L’Wren Scott gown at last night’s star-studded amfAR Gala and opted for a short sequin number (paired with a fun sleek wig) for a dinner party earlier in the week. Guests are reportedly flying in from all over the world for the sure-to-be extravagant celebration and with besties like Kate Moss, Donatella Versace, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, we can be sure the bash will pack a lot of style and more than a few outfit changes for the birthday girl. Happy Birthday, Naomi!

Rent Sex And The City 2 Styles!

May 20, 2010 @ 5:17 pm

Yes, Carrie and her crew’s Sex and the City 2 wardrobe is rumored to have cost upwards of ten million dollars, but that doesn’t mean that everything Sarah Jessica Parker wore in the movie is woefully out of reach: RentTheRunway.com has just launched a SATC2-inspired section of their site. Fans can rent Carrie’s iconic white Halston Heritage number, her off-the-shoulder peach confection, and plenty of other dresses and accessories that look like they’d be perfect for Charlotte, Miranda, Samantha, or you, for a fraction of the retail price. The downside is that you have to send your selection back. But it’s perfect if, like Samantha, you’re commitment-phobic.

Joy Bryant’s Charitable Botkier Bag

May 20, 2010 @ 12:20 pm

Joy Bryant has teamed up with handbag aficionado and friend Monica Botkier on a charitable purse that might just be that perfect summer carryall. The Joy Satchel ($575), made of soft brown pebble leather, features cool topstitching and a detachable shoulder strap so you can carry it as a tote or sling it over your shoulder like a messenger bag. “Inside is a detachable clutch that is the perfect size to take out at night,” Bryant told us. “It’s like three bags in one! I love bags that are hip-slung and this one is made of the kind of leather that ages really well and will get nice and worn and rugged looking.” And the bag isn’t just functional: it also helps a good cause. Fifty percent off the proceeds benefit Oxfam America, an anti-poverty charity where Bryant is an ambassador. More

Salma Hayek Donates Gucci Couture

May 20, 2010 @ 12:17 pm

Our current cover girl, Salma Hayek Pinault, was the first woman ever to wear the new Gucci Premiere collection when she donned this cranberry-colored gown for the Cannes debut of Robin Hood last week; now Salma’s donated the dress—designed by Frida Gianni for her brand-new couture line—to her friend Penelope Cruz’s auction (hosted with luxury jewelry brand Chopard) to benefit the J/P Haitian Relief Organization. The gorgeous gown fetched a pretty penny at last night’s event: It was sold for over $20,000.

Kate Moss Wears Topshop Backwards!

May 20, 2010 @ 11:41 am

Kate Moss celebrated the launch of her twelfth collection for Topshop in London last night and she was clad, of course, in an ensemble composed entirely of her own creations for the British fast-fashion chain. But the supermodel designer apparently couldn’t resist adding her own last minute “twist” to her cream-colored silk playsuit: she wore the romper back-to-front, pairing it with tights and a black silk blazer. We must admit, we prefer this subtle alteration to the bolder backwards dress Amanda Seyfried wore to a premiere last month; the difference is that Kate’s piece appears versatile enough to easily work in both directions. Kate’s new summer collection is in stores and online today.

First Lady Stuns at State Dinner

May 20, 2010 @ 10:13 am

Michelle Obama was a vision in blue at last night’s State Dinner honoring Mexico. The First Lady debuted a shimmering one-shoulder colbalt gown by American designer Peter Soronen, made of three layers of chiffon, lamé chiffon and silk. (This is the fourth gown by Soronen for Mrs. O: She wore his sparkling pewter gown at the White House’s annual Governors Ball, a lavender chiffon gown at the Kennedy Center Honors and a simple black gown at the Time 100 Awards.) “I love the structured bodice that I do for her. I put it in a lot of dresses,” Soronen told the AP. “And then I drape and pin and stitch all that lightweight chiffon, and I love that look on her.” The First Lady accessorized her look with platinum diamond and sapphire earrings and pewter studded strappy sandals.
