Agreed Rae! I hope they plan on making her gain weight (and curves) in order to play someone who was famous for being curvy and gorgeous. Not a good choice, imo.

I love Naomi, but I am guessing to look the part they will have to add a lot of padding to her hips and breast. I think her acting will be excellent, but to look so different from an icon that has so much visual recognition (in many ways her main claim to fame) makes the choice strange.

A cup breast size doesn’t match a d cup natural like M.M. Noami is good for the psycho roles in movies but not this sultry type of a kitten that Marilyn was. Scarlett would not be a good choice either as she is petite and packs on the makeup.

Marilyn Monroe was not a size 12 in the same sense of what a size 12 is today.

Labels and sizing have changed, and Marilyn was curvy and did have hips and breast, but she was tiny. She was not a 12 or a 16 or a 14 — not even close.

In today’s sizes she would be a 8 or even a 6.

Tiny waist + ample breasts + curvy yet small hips … Just look at pictures of her, esp. some of the racier ones where you can see her body beneath all the heavy clothes.

Victoria’s right. I went to a museum exhibit that featured a lot of Marilyn’s clothing. I am a size 10. I would not have fit into her clothes. It was sort of a bummer. I’d always thought we were the same size, but her waist was REDONKULOUSLY tiny. That said, she may have been close to a size 12 when she was shooting The Misfits.

Okay, Victoria – that is much more detail on a deceased actresses measurements than I could have ever found myself. Even if she would be a size 8 or 6, I still say Naomi is wrong wrong wrong for the part. She is at most a size 2, has almost zero sex appeal in my opinion, and frankly doesn’t seem to have the acting chops to pull this one off. Also, I know Scarlett wears a lot of make-up, but she is closer to Marilyn’s frame and height (she claims to be about 5’4″) and sex appeal than any other living actress I can think of…it would be much easier for her to take off the make-up than for Naomi to increase her bust and bottom to Marilyn’s quality and quantitiy.

Vanity Sizing. That is what we have today. 0 is a 4 and 4 is an 8 and 8 is a 12 and so on and so forth. They do that to make “in denial” women feel skinny and buy more clothes ignoring the fact that they are actually 4 sizes bigger if they actually did their measurements. It’s true. Think about that next time you eat a 3 person meal all by yourself at a restaurant.

Wow, okay CommonSense. Not sure who you are pointing your finger at with that comment, but after working at Banana Republic, I’m quite aware of vanity sizing. But just because I am a size 10/12 doesn’t mean I eat a three person meal at restaurants – it just means I’m not skinny as a rail, nor am I overweight. Not everyone is built to be a size 4.
