Fake Your Way to Toned Legs

May 6, 2010 @ 4:53 pm

If you don’t have time to hit the gym but want legs as amazing as Jennifer Lopez‘s, try skin-highlighting makeup. “Legs look leaner and more toned when they have a bit of a glow,” says N.Y.C. makeup artist Linda Hay, who suggests exfoliating weekly for a smooth base. A gradual tanner can add a hint of color over time, but if you want instant results, go with bronzing lotion like Scott Barnes’s Body Bling (pictured, $38 at scottbarnes.com). Apply in a circular motion to prevent streaking. To create the illusion of slimmer legs, dab a touch of highlighter down the center of each leg, blending well to ensure a natural effect.

Gwyneth’s Iron Man 2 Diet Secrets

May 6, 2010 @ 4:18 pm

To get in shape for her role as Pepper Potts in Iron Man 2, Gwyneth Paltrow relied on a strict 5-day diet and exercise regimen, which she shared in her most recent Goop newsletter titled “The Making of Pepper Potts.” Her daily schedule included a breakfast of green tea and a shake made with detoxifying powders, an hour-and-a-half workout with trainer Tracy Anderson and a set of healthy vegetarian meals. “This regime got me into the shape of my life and I continue to return to it when I have a specific event—so that I can do ridiculous things like be a 37-year-old mother of two and wear shorts!” the actress wrote. Check out Gwyneth’s latest Goop newsletter for complete recipes and a video featuring one of Anderson’s workout tips.

Rodarte’s Limited-Edition Tees

May 6, 2010 @ 12:37 pm

In honor of  Rialto Pictures’ 50th anniversary re-release of Breathless, Jean-Luc Godard’s film noir starring Jean-Paul Belmondo as a petty thief and the incredibly cool Jean Seberg as an American journalist in Paris, Rodarte has created two limited-edition T-shirts. The first is based on the New York Herald Tribune T-shirt Seberg wore in the film and the other an original design inspired by the French New Wave film’s overall style. “[Godard] is a renegade. In Breathless, he broke all the rules and formulas,” said Laura Mulleavy, one half of the designer duo. “We have been influenced by Godard’s rejection of the status quo and have approached our work with the same desire.” The sisters are also designing a new poster for the film’s release and will be creating window displays for Barney’s New York, where the shirts will be sold. The restored film hits theaters May 28th .

Camilla Belle’s Flawless Skin Secrets

May 6, 2010 @ 12:04 pm

To enhance Camilla Belle‘s flawless complexion and natural glow, makeup artist Fiona Stiles, who works with Belle, uses a light touch. “The key is to keep [makeup] from looking caked on,” says Stiles, who first preps the star’s skin with a featherweight moisturizer to create an even canvas. Next, she smooths on luminous foundation sparingly. For a natural rosiness, she suggests swirling soft pink blush just under the cheekbones (choose a bronzer if you have darker skin). She finishes with a dusting of loose powder. “It keeps the makeup looking fresh,” Stiles says. Click on for products you can use to get Belle’s glow.

Lady Gaga performed her new single “Alejandro” on American Idol last night in a custom Armani silk mesh bodysuit with embroidered Chantilly lace and crystal beading paired with a matching hooded cape (which she removed mid-performance) and stiletto boots. “I have let my imagination run free, and the outfit I have created for her for American Idol is pure fantasy,” said Armani. Gaga, who began collaborating with the designer at the Grammy Awards in January, also wore a glittering Armani bodysuit for her performance at the Met Gala earlier this week. “American Idol is a real modern phenomenon that has captured the public’s imagination and delivers great drama,” said Armani. “It is fitting then that the show is to host another modern phenomenon…whose every appearance is a piece of theater.” Check out Lady Gaga’s Idol performance after the jump!
