In honor of the upcoming American Woman-themed Met Gala, all-American retailer Gap (who is sponsoring the event) asked four top designers to create original red carpet gowns for some of the celebrity attendees. So who gets to wear these custom creations? Jessica Alba and Vera Farmiga will wear Sophie Theallet for Gap; Zoe Kravitz and MIA will wear Alexander Wang for Gap; Kirsten Dunst and Jamie Bochert will wear Rodarte for Gap; and Kerry Washington and Riley Keough will wear Thakoon for Gap. “It’s been thrilling to watch some of today’s greatest design talent as they prepare their interpretation of today’s modern American woman,” said Patrick Robinson, event co-chair and head of Gap Global design. The unique gowns will be auctioned off from May 4-31 at gap.com/gownauction (all proceeds will benefit the Metropolitan Museum of Art) and on display at Gap’s Fifth Avenue pop-up shop. Also available at the special store will be limited-edition T-shirts ($35-$45) inspired by the themes of the exhibit: The Heiress, The Gibson Girl, The Haute Bohemian, The Suffragist, The Patriot, The Flapper and The Screen Siren.

Between us speaking, in my opinion, it is obvious. I would not wish to develop this theme.
