Ivanka’s Jewelry Must-Haves

Ivanka Trump knows a thing or two about jewelry—she’s inherited a stunning collection (and a love of baubles) from her high-fashion mom and has been designing her namesake fine jewelry line since 2007. While each of her pieces are covetable and distinctive, the real estate mogul also believes that every woman should have three go-to styles in her personal collection. “Every woman should own two styles of staple earrings and a bead necklace,” Trump told us. “These are the easiest types of jewelry to wear. All three pieces should be in a black, white or clear color so they can be worn all the time.” Don’t have a Trump-sized budget? Ivanka Trump Collection now offers entry-level items that won’t necessarily break the bank. Trump recommends the $550 diamond and black onyx earrings. “They are stylish enough to stand out and small enough to blend in when you need to lead a boardroom meeting!” Click on to see more of Trump’s go-to pieces from her collection.

Matthew Williamson’s Vodka-Inspired Design

Apr 26, 2010 @ 2:17 pm

Vodka is definitely having a stylish moment! Last week we got a peek at SKYY’s Sex and The City 2-themed bottle—now Belvedere’s new Pink Grapefruit flavor has inspired a limited-edition kaftan designed by Matthew Williamson. According to the British designer, the vibrant pink print recalls “the vitality of sultry high-summer evenings.” To celebrate the collaboration, Williamson enlisted model/DJ Leigh Lezark (pictured with the designer) to model a custom-made jumper in the new print and host a bash at Belvedere’s N.Y.C. pop-up shop, which is directly across the street from Williamson’s store in the Meatpacking District. The Matthew Williamson for Belvedere Pink Grapefruit kaftan will retail for $1,540 when it hits Williamson’s boutiques and Web site on May 13.

Hair Q&A With Mrs. Obama’s Stylist

Apr 26, 2010 @ 11:46 am

SoftSheen-Carson stylist Johnny Wright keeps Michelle Obama’s mane polished to perfection—and we asked him your top five hair questions:

1) Kara: “How often do you recommend washing your hair if you work out on a daily basis?”
“Less is better.  Don’t wash everyday even if you work out. Every other day is a much better option.”

2) Misty: “Do you have a favorite flat iron?”
“I’m in love with the Corioliss Flat Iron. It’s made with titanium, which is less damaging than other metals.”

3) Eva: “What styling tips can you give for women over 40?”
“As women age, their hair tends to thin—so all styles seem flat. Give your look tons of body by choosing a rich thickening cream to plump strands and create volume.” More

N.Y.C.’s famous Metropolitan Museum of Art has tapped Sarah Jessica Parker to record the audio guide for the Costume Institute‘s upcoming fashion exhibit, “American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity.” The exhibit, on view from May 5th through August 15th, “will look at fashion’s role in defining how American women have been represented historically,” says its curator, Andrew Bolton. “Because of Sex and The City,’ [Parker] is so much associated with New York and America, and with using fashion as a way to shape identity,” Bolton told WWD. Click on the photo gallery to see a sneak peek of the upcoming exhibit, including photos of women who helped define American fashion.
