Hilary Swank To Star In French Women Don’t Get Fat Film?

Apr 15, 2010 @ 4:03 pm

In 2005, Mireille Guiliano caused a stir with her “non-diet” book French Women Don’t Get Fat and now there’s buzz that Oscar winner Hilary Swank may star in a romantic comedy based on the book and its beliefs: Ditch the fad diets and low-cal frozen meals in favor of bread, wine and chocolate (in moderation, bien sur) and you’re less likely to become obese! Later this month, Guiliano will also debut The French Women Don’t Get Fat Cookbook ($25, Atria), chock-full of 150 decadent recipes like Lemon Ricotta Pancakes and Chicken au Champagne and stocked with more of the author’s trademark wit and wisdom. “Your eating and living habits…like a classic Chanel suit, should last you forever with minor alterations over the years,” Guilano writes. We can’t wait for both!

Zac Posen’s Secrets To Chic Summer Travel

Apr 15, 2010 @ 2:19 pm

Dreaming of that much-needed summer vacation but already dreading the packing? We asked Zac Posen, whose debut collection for Target hits stores April 25th (this Sunday!), to tell us the secret to chic summer travel. Number one on his packing checklist? “A girl should always travel with an LBD,” Posen told us. “Our knit LBD is especially scrumptious and versatile—perfect for a beach holiday!” The line’s versatility also makes it easy to pack light. “The tie-dye tank dress is the perfect cover-up and can be carried from day to night with the right belt.” And don’t forget the most important piece: “A girl can’t possibly go on a summer getaway without a smokin’ hot bikini! Our gold lurex two-piece is to die for!” If you’re in N.Y.C., get a head start on your summer style at the 24-hour Zac Posen for Target pop-up shop in Herald Square—opening tonight at 11 p.m.!

Chace Crawford’s Fashionable Two Cents

Apr 15, 2010 @ 2:02 pm

Gossip Girl‘s Chace Crawford may star in one of TV’s most stylish shows, but does he have what it takes to dish fashion advice? UK magazine Grazia put the actor to the test as this week’s guest fashion editor, and Crawford was tasked with picking a hot accessory each day (a Mulberry bib necklace and Victoria Beckham aviators have made the cut so far). He also weighed in on summer’s new fragrances, deeming Stella McCartney’s floral-scented Sheer “very sophisticated.”  The actor even tackled a fashion quiz, where he rightly guessed what trend Gossip Girl character Blair Waldorf popularized. “Headbands! I definitely know that one,” he said. (Relive Blair’s best headbands here!) Our take on his skills? Watch out Leighton and Blake, there’s a new fashion expert in town.

Fenton/Fallon For J. Crew’s Outfit-Making Jewels

Apr 15, 2010 @ 11:50 am

What do you get when you pair J. Crew’s prep-goes-glam style with Fenton and Fallon‘s penchant for edgy, statement jewelry? The best of both worlds! Fenton/Fallon for J. Crew, which came about after J. Crew Creative Director Jenna Lyons went wild over Michelle Obama’s custom Fenton/Fallon necklace. The resulting pieces are one part rebel (think piles of chains and spikes) and one part girly-girl thanks to perfectly-placed crystals and nuanced mixed metals. “It’s a little less statement-y than Fenton, a little more statement-y than Fallon,” Fenton/Fallon jewelry designer Dana Lorenz told Style.com. “I’m kinda loving the contrast with the preppy little blazers and things.” The pieces are in stores now, with prices ranging from $95 to $295.

Rachel Weisz has been tapped to play iconic First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in an upcoming biopic, Jackie. The film, which will be produced and directed by Weisz’s fiancee Darren Aronofsky, follows Jackie during the four days in 1963 between President Kennedy’s assassination and burial. No details about the movie’s release are yet available, but one thing is for sure: We can’t wait for Weisz’s performance—or her costumes.

Marni and Current/Elliott Team Up

Apr 15, 2010 @ 11:38 am

We love a good designer denim collaboration—Lanvin’s ongoing partnership with Acne, Proenza Schouler’s recent one-off collection for J. Brand—and now Marni and Current/Elliott are teaming up for a jean line of their own. Combining the Italian label’s colorful whimsy with Current/Elliott’s Americana approach to denim, the collection pairs artful tees with embellished versions of Current/Elliott’s cult boyfriend jeans.  Current/Elliott + Marni hits Marni boutiques and select department stores in June.

First Look! Mary-Kate and Ashley’s New Collection

Apr 15, 2010 @ 10:01 am

We’ve got an exclusive first look at the latest collection from Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen‘s fashion label, Elizabeth and James! “The fall collection plays with texture and mixes comfort with fashion,” Mary-Kate told us. Translation? Blousey dresses and trousers, plus luxe details like Italian brocade and ostrich feathers. The line’s signature blazers and jackets are as modern as ever, although this time around they’re topped off with playful fur and leather accents. Her and Ashley’s favorite piece? “The silk drapey pant is the new skinny pant—it’s comfortable, flattering and looks great paired with heels,” she says.  Click on for a complete look at Elizabeth and James’ Fall 2010 collection.
