Why Jane Krawkowski Swears By Self-Tanner

Mar 25, 2010 @ 2:44 pm

Just because you know her as the curly-haired, fair funny girl from 30 Rock, doesn’t mean Jane Krakowski doesn’t appreciate a healthy glow. In fact, the star revealed to us this week that she used to be a sun-worshiper. “Back in the day, tanning seemed important.  We’d use baby oil—my family even had one of those ray reflecting silver blankets!” she confessed.  Krakowski, now a spokesperson for Jergens Natural Glow Moisturizer, has since mended her ways. “Signs of premature aging really made me want to take better care of my skin,” she said. Now I wear SPF every day.” We couldn’t help wondering, does this mean she’ll be hitting the spray tan booth before heading down the isle? Krakowski stayed mum: “I think every bride has a natural radiance all their own on their special day!”

Get more sun tips from Krakowski—and feel good about doing it. Each time her video is viewed, Jergens will donate $1 to the Skin Cancer Foundation!

Stars Without Stylists: Diane, Marion & January

Diane Kruger and Marion Cotillard consistently blow us away with their gorgeous red carpet choices—Kruger’s fuchsia Christian Lacroix gown (far left) at the Golden Globes and Cotillard’s beaded ivory Elie Saab Couture (center) at the SAG Awards were particularly memorable—and we were amazed to learn that neither actress employs a stylist.  “[Diane and Marion] are both clearly working with very sophisticated and informed taste levels in terms of style and importantly, they understand what looks good on them,” stylist Arianne Phillips told TheDailyBeast.com. With so many eyes on the red carpet, it’s a brave move for any star to go it alone, and stylist Shirley Kurata explains that we may see more actresses sporting their own picks. “Studios are cutting budgets for stylists, so a lot of girls are dressing themselves,” she said. Whatever the reason, it’s refreshing to know that burgeoning style stars such as Mad Men‘s January Jones, who looked chic in black Lanvin (far right) for the Golden Globes, are still getting noticed in dresses of their own choosing. “She definitely caught my eye,” said Phillips. “January is clearly one to watch.”

Effervescent beauty Cat Deeley plays up her sexy side in her new ad campaign for Links of London. The So You Think You Can Dance host, who’s the British jewelry brand’s first Global Ambassador, shows off silver bangles from the Sweetie line’s spring/summer collection (left). “I did a photo shoot with them last month showcasing their newest pieces, which I have already been wearing out and about,” Deeley wrote on her Web site. “My favourites include the black Sweetie watch (which I wore to Carey Mulligan‘s pre-Oscar lunch), and the signature gold bangles, as well as my classic silver and gold charm bracelets, which I have already loaded with charms!” Expect Deeley to appear later this year in Links of London’s fall campaign as well.

Young designer (and son of the legendary Oscar de la Renta) Moises de la Renta has teamed up with Spanish label Mango on a line of limited-edition T-shirts. He debuted the collection of anything-but-basic tees at the Crosby Street Hotel in N.Y.C. yesterday, where models looked effortlessly glamorous in full skirts of tulle, red lips and peep-toe pumps.  “My inspiration… was the traditional romantic themes: from pretty patchworks with summer flowers in somber colors, such as rose, violet, gray and black, to graphic illusions which combine transparent effects, with shiny gems and adornments in between,” de la Renta said. The collection of eight statement tees, ranging from $50-$70, hits stores and mangoshop.com mid-April.

Lady Gaga Dominates the Headlines!

Mar 25, 2010 @ 10:41 am

Lady Gaga sure knows how to make headlines! First comes news that she’s the first artist to hit one billion online video views for “Poker Face,” “Just Dance,” and “Bad Romance.” Then WWD reports that the neon yellow tressed songstress is exploring the possibility of launching a new line of sunglasses with London label Linda Farrow, which has previously created shades for Alexander Wang, Dries Van Noten and Matthew Williamson. But the top of the list has to be the news that Lady G was spotted in New Zealand fishing in high heels, underwear and a men’s work shirt.  Which makes perfect sense after remembering what she recently told a British TV host: “”I would rather die than have my fans not see me in a pair of high heels.” You gotta love a star who stays true to her fans!

Bowersox’s Locks Are Here to Stay

Mar 25, 2010 @ 8:45 am

Crystal Bowersox, the American Idol contestant who has impressed the judges with her unique brand of folksy charm and killer pipes, plans on staying true to her roots–kind of. “Nothing is going to change. I’ll let them play with my bangs a little, maybe. But, other than that, I definitely want to continue my own clothes, my own hair,” she told Entertainment Weekly, referring to her blond dreadlocks, which she’s had for over four years. Bowersox isn’t the first American Idol hopeful to have made it this far with a head full of dreads: There was also Jason Castro, the talented Texan who got fourth place two seasons ago. We hope to see Crystal and her signature ‘do for many weeks to come!

Portman & Kunis To Star As Rodarte-Clad Ballerinas

Mar 24, 2010 @ 2:15 pm

Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis are about to live out every little girl’s (and quite a few big girl’s!) dream. The actresses are set to star as competing ballerinas in Darren Aronofsky’s film Black Swan, which features scenes from “Swan Lake” where the girls will dance in custom-designed costumes by Rodarte! Already a red carpet fave of Portman’s (right), designer sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy are famous for their ethereal meets gothic designs and incredible use of tulle. So while the girls will be battling on screen for the best grande jete, we doubt they will be fighting over the sure-to-be fantastic costumes!
