We recently reported on Madonna’s foray into fashion with her new clothing line for juniors, Material Girl, and here’s the scoop on the real creative force behind the line—her 13-year-old-daughter Lourdes (aka Lola)! “Lola has been bothering me for ages about designing clothes,” Madonna told the Associated Press. “Stella McCartney is a good friend of mine and she got [Lola's] mind thinking when she was a little girl. She has been very influenced by European fashion…by the music she listens to…[and] of course my closet. My Christian Dior shoes will go missing and then some fabulous bag!” When asked about her own fashion sense, Madonna replied: “I am boring…[Lola] reminds me of me when I was younger. She just goes for it and tries different things…that is how I used to be.” And the pop star doesn’t pull her motherly rank during the design process: “I see her more…as an artist and less as my daughter as we are working, and then every once in a while I remembered she is my daughter.” Material Girl launches exclusively at Macy’s in August.

I have two pre-teen grandaughters who are already bugging to see these clothes so I anticipate a Macy’s day with them as soon as the line comes out, God Help Me I hope the clothes are affordable.

Mary, some good news for you. From what I have read the line apparently ranges from about either $10 or $12 up to $40 and includes clothes, shoes, and lots of fun accessories so there is plenty to choose from.
