Madonna On Designing With Lourdes

Mar 30, 2010 @ 4:50 pm

We recently reported on Madonna’s foray into fashion with her new clothing line for juniors, Material Girl, and here’s the scoop on the real creative force behind the line—her 13-year-old-daughter Lourdes (aka Lola)! “Lola has been bothering me for ages about designing clothes,” Madonna told the Associated Press. “Stella McCartney is a good friend of mine and she got [Lola's] mind thinking when she was a little girl. She has been very influenced by European fashion…by the music she listens to…[and] of course my closet. My Christian Dior shoes will go missing and then some fabulous bag!” When asked about her own fashion sense, Madonna replied: “I am boring…[Lola] reminds me of me when I was younger. She just goes for it and tries different things…that is how I used to be.” And the pop star doesn’t pull her motherly rank during the design process: “I see her more…as an artist and less as my daughter as we are working, and then every once in a while I remembered she is my daughter.” Material Girl launches exclusively at Macy’s in August.

Anna, Adam, Dianna & Mark: Paper Magazine’s Most Beautiful

Mar 30, 2010 @ 4:48 pm

Paper magazine’s Most Beautiful People 2010 skipped traditional Hollywood A-listers in favor of a bevy of fun, young stars like Up in the Air‘s Anna Kendrick, American Idol‘s controversial glam rocker Adam Lambert and Glee‘s dubious couple, Dianna Agron and Mark Salling. “When he told me, I just tried to act really cool,” Kendrick told them about finding out director Jason Reitman wrote the career-changing part with her in mind. “I wasn’t all that successful at it.” Adam Lambert isn’t so shy about his star power: “There’s been a void in mainstream music of a male performer who’s theatrical, campy, over the top. So I think that’s an interesting challenge—to fill that spot.” Mark Salling described his Glee character as “bad guy inside of a good guy inside of a bad guy” kind of complicated. “She’s deliciously evil and oscillates between being the mean girl and someone with an ounce of a heart,” Dianna Agron said of playing Quinn Fabray. Who else does Paper magazine deem easy on the eyes and so much more? See the rest of their most beautiful picks at papermag.com.

Ugly Betty’s Sexy Makeover!

Mar 30, 2010 @ 4:47 pm

Move over Wilhelmina! As Ugly Betty draws to a close, America Ferrera’s title character finally gets to play a sophisticated sexpot on the ABC series. Last week, Betty Suarez looked like a true fashion magazine editor, dressed to kill in a sexy Victoria Beckham Dresses LBD (the same peplum waist dress we’ve seen on stylish beauties like Blake Lively, Jennifer Hudson and Beckham herself)—she’s come a long way from the braces and mismatched plaids we’ve grown to tolerate over the last four seasons! Don’t miss the final episode of Ugly Betty—and hopefully some more runway-worthy looks—airing on April 14th at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.

Idol Stylists Dish On This Season’s Makeovers

So far American Idol’s Top 10 have survived weekly eliminations by tackling challenging song themes and the judges’ brutally honest critiques, but are they prepared to endure major personal style makeovers? We talked to the show’s wardrobe stylists, Soyon An and Miles Siggins, who dished about their plans for upcoming tweaks to the contestants’ distinctive styles. “We’ll hopefully be seeing some changes,” An told us. “I don’t want to overwhelm the contestants or America, but I hope you’ll be surprised.” While An looks to push the envelope a little further with the girls, Siggins relies on an organic approach for the guys. “It’s all about a natural progression,” he said. “I’d like it to look like they’ve created the look themselves.” Click on to our photo gallery to find out what style elements An and Siggins will change and what will stay the same.
