Nicole Richie’s Wedding Dress: “I haven’t even thought about it!”

Mar 18, 2010 @ 2:30 pm

Ever since Nicole Richie and longtime boyfriend Joel Madden announced their engagement, we’ve been awaiting details (designer? style?) on the bride-to-be’s wedding dress. Despite tabloid reports that Richie chose a Monique Lhuillier gown (the same one Molly Malaney wore on The Bachelor wedding!), the real story is that the busy fashion designer and mother of two hasn’t had a minute to think about it. “I have not decided on a dress,” she told us at last night’s Missoni dinner in Beverly Hills. “I haven’t even thought about it!” Richie, who recently launched her contemporary line Winter Kate and a new shoe collection for House of Harlow, looked chic (and perfectly bohemian) in a floor-length Missoni halter dress that she “threw on” last minute. “I got ready really fast. I pulled this out of my closet—it’s my own personal Missoni. I forgot I had this and I haven’t worn it,” she said. “It turned out to be perfect!” Talk about truly effortless style!

Meet Lily Collins!

Mar 18, 2010 @ 1:47 pm

At last night’s Missioni boutique opening we caught up with Lily Collins to wish her a happy birthday (she turns 21 today!) and ask her how it feels to be on the verge of major Hollywood stardom. “Less than a year ago I hadn’t even been cast in The Blind Side,” said Collins, who made her feature film debut opposite Sandra Bullock in the Oscar-nominated movie. “It’s crazy!” Next up for the actress, who happens to be the daughter of ’80s pop icon Phil Collins, is the horror flick Priest. “I play a girl who is kidnapped by vampires, but it’s not a romance for tweens!” says Collins, quick to point out that there are few similarities between Priest and The Twilight Saga. Still, she does have an interesting connection to Edward and Bella; InStyle‘s 2008 Twilight fashion story was shot at her L.A. home. “I came home from school one day to find Robert and Kristen on this couch on my front lawn. I was so confused,” she remembered. “I actually auditioned for the part of Bella. I was like, ‘What a weird coincidence!’”

Watch the New Eat, Pray, Love Trailer

Mar 18, 2010 @ 1:30 pm

Julia Roberts feasts, meditates and romances her way across the globe in the just-released trailer for Eat, Pray, Love. Based on Elizabeth Gilbert’s enormously popular novel (and Oprah Book Club fave), Roberts plays a disenchanted and divorced writer who treks to Italy, India and Bali in search of fulfillment and pleasure. We can’t wait to see the Pretty Woman back in action, especially in scenes she shares with her very handsome costars, Billy Crudup, James Franco and Javier Bardem. Eat, Pray, Love hits theaters on August 13—check out a photo from the film after the jump!

Rachel Leigh Teams Up With Charm & Chain

Mar 18, 2010 @ 12:32 pm

Opposites attract, but what happens when two like-minded accessory brands unite? In the case of Charm & Chain and Rachel Leigh, the answer is an edgy, yet sweet braided cuff. This woven rhinestone and denim bracelet ($190; Charm & Chain) is the brainchild of Ali Galgano, founder of the online jewelry boutique, and Rachel Leigh, designer of the eponymous vintage-inspired brand. The partnership is a first for Charm & Chain: “I always want to tweak pieces to make them more my style, so we’re partnering with a few of our favorite designers,” says Galgano. “I love Rachel’s aesthetic and thought she would be a perfect first collaboration.” More

Miley Cyrus Is Maxed Out On Pink!

Mar 18, 2010 @ 10:15 am

After playing Disney’s undercover pop sensation Hannah Montana for four years, Miley Cyrus is ready to say goodbye to her TV alter ego and her ultra-glitzy pink wardrobe. “When they’re putting me in sparkles and in pink this final season, I have to grit my teeth,” Cyrus told Parade magazine. “A friend came by the set one day and said, ‘You don’t look very happy.’ I said, ‘I’m feeling claustrophobic in all these frills.’” Though the 17-year-old star has recently shown a penchant for figure-hugging frocks from Herve Leger and Moschino, she’s not completely abandoning her girlie side. Cyrus chose a flowing, beaded Jenny Packham gown for this year’s Oscars precisely for its feminine quality. “It was the most princess-y,” she said.

Gaga’s Show Style Hits the Street

Mar 18, 2010 @ 10:00 am

Life imitates art for Lady Gaga! The envelope-pushing pop princess arrived at the airport in Sydney, Australia to perform 13 shows for her Monster Ball tour with her platinum locks wrapped around cans of Diet Coke, a look she first sported in her “Telephone” video. The rest of her racy ensemble, which included a sheer black mini dress, fishnets and platform ankle boots, could have easily been mistaken for a costume from one of her videos or shows. Ever the creative dresser, Lady Gaga is working more and more elements of her onscreen style into her everyday wear. We can’t wait to see what she turns up in next!

The Council of Fashion Designers of America announced the nominees and honorees for its annual Fashion Awards last night at CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg‘s design studio. Von Furstenberg, along with Swarovski vice president Nadja Swarovski, named the honorees, which included Michael Kors (Lifetime Achievement Award), Iman (Fashion Icon Award) and Alexander McQueen (Special Tribute Award). Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan and Alexander Wang were nominated for Womenswear Designer of the Year while the Swarovski Award for Womenswear nominees, an honor for emerging talent, singled out Jason Wu, Prabal Gurung and Joseph Altuzarra. “I’m dumbfounded because I wasn’t expecting this at all,” Gurung told us. “I always feel like I’m the product of the love [I have] for the fashion industry and tonight seals the deal for me.” For Wu, who was still reeling from witnessing Michelle Obama induct his inaugural gown into the Smithsonian, the nomination felt extra special since it came from his fellow designers. “It’s the highest form of flattery because it’s from people in our line of work—designers for designers,” he said. Check cfda.com for a full list of this year’s nominees and honorees.
