Runway Look of the Day: Balenciaga

Mar 4, 2010 @ 5:48 pm

This Balenciaga dress looked like a knit, but it’s actually a crepe mousse fabric that’s laser-cut.  Nicolas Ghesquiere is known for his amazing innovative fabrications, and this futuristic take on romance was beautifully rendered.

Where’s Anna Kendrick’s Oscar Gown?

Mar 4, 2010 @ 10:37 am

Best Supporting Actress nominee Anna Kendrick is in full-blown prep mode for the Oscars this weekend (“I got a B12 shot today!”), but she still hasn’t seen her gown in person! “I haven’t even tried the dress on yet! They are furiously making it now. From the sketches, it is really beautiful. I normally can’t get away with a long dress because I’ve just been told my whole life that short girls can’t wear long dresses, but my stylist convinced me that with the right cut and the right shoes, you can wear long dresses,” the Up in the Air star told us at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel’s Pre-Oscar Haiti Relief event.  “I definitely want it to be something beautiful and not something that feels like a wallflower dress.” Especially since the actress will be reuniting on the red carpet with her Twilight co-stars: “I saw Kristen [Stewart] at the BAFTAS and I saw Taylor [Lautner] at the Golden Globes, but I haven’t seen them since. We will all be wearing matching outfits at the Oscars,” she laughed.  More

Runway Look of the Day: Dries Van Noten

Mar 4, 2010 @ 9:00 am

Dries Van Noten‘s combination of a casual but reinvented sweatshirt with a ladylike full skirt and pumps looks so new to me! Dries’s prints are always gorgeous, and the longer length skirt looks just right. I love the mix of sporty and formal.
