Lauren Conrad’s Newest Label to Love: Sena

Mar 3, 2010 @ 4:00 pm

Designer Sena Yang earned her stripes at Alexander McQueen and Catherine Malandrino before branching out 7 months ago to start her own line, Sena—now she can count Lauren Conrad as a fan! The reality star recently wore the line’s sexy sheer-paneled Illusion skirt in an eye-popping fuschia (right). “She owned [that look]. I could not have been happier,” Yang told us. Inspired by ’90s rock and Helmut Newton photographs, Sena’s spring collection  features feminine silhouettes with a dose of tough-girl attitude. “I’m very much inspired by that downtown girl who’s effortless and chic,” said Yang. Sena retails from $60 to $400 and is sold at Revolveclothing.com.

Twitter Beauty Q&A: Sunless Tanner

Mar 3, 2010 @ 3:51 pm

@ATLClaire said: Need suggestions for gradual self-tanner! I [want] to avoid tanning beds and too much [sun] but need color!

Want to glow like Jessica Alba? We just found out the star is a fan of spray-tanning, and we’re so happy to hear that our readers are avoiding tanning beds, too.  For a gradual tan, look for Jergens Natural Glow Express ($8.99). This creamy, non-smelly formula is hard to mess up and neither unnoticeably subtle nor overly pumpkin, like some of the other formulas we’ve tried. After exfoliating in the shower, apply it just like you would your normal body moisturizer. You’ll get natural-looking, un-streaky color in just a few hours. If you want more glow, just keep using it each day.  (Just be sure to rinse your palms afterwards.) Happy faux tanning, and keep Tweeting your beauty questions!

Meet J.Crew’s Spring Muses

Mar 3, 2010 @ 1:46 pm

For their Spring 2010 collection, J.Crew looked to nine stylish women, like author Lily Koppel (left), for inspiration. “We created outfits for them that they’d be comfortable in, that would make them feel like themselves,” J.Crew creative director Jenna Lyons told StyleList. Koppel topped her matchstick jeans and Selvedge chambray shirt with an adorable straw fedora, while New York City Ballet dancer Ellen Bar (right) leapt across the catalog in an elegant silk chiffon Delphinia gown. So how did J.Crew find its nine muses? Stylist Dianna Lunt was spotted on a blog (“We cold-called her because we’ve been personally stalking her style,” said Lyons) while others, including interior designer Celerie Kemble and fashion consultant Amanda Brooks, were plucked from Lyons’s own circle of friends.  You can view more of J.Crew’s spring muses in their latest catalog and on jcrew.com.

YSL Makes Menswear for the Ladies

Mar 3, 2010 @ 1:25 pm

Yves St. Laurent first introduced the concept of menswear for women with his iconic Le Smoking suit in 1966 and now the trend (think: boyfriend jeans, button-downs, oxfords) is part of our everyday wardrobe. Today the brand takes gender bending to the next level with the introduction of Edition Unisex. Inspired by his Men’s Spring 2009 collection, Creative Director Stefano Pilati reinterprets menswear staples with a more lady-friendly cut. He pairs sexy and powerful sportswear, like high-waisted cropped trousers and borrowed-from-my-date dress jackets, with girls-only skirts and bralette tops. The newest collection, which ranges from $250 for a T-shirt to $3,550 for leather jackets, will debut March 5th-14th at the YSL flagship boutique in N.Y.C. and then be sold at select storesClick on to see the entire Edition Unisex 2010 collection.

Angelina & Johnny: Most Glam Co-stars

Mar 3, 2010 @ 12:19 pm

A vision in white draped silk and bold red lips, Angelina Jolie was spotted filming balcony scenes from her new film, The Tourist, in Venice yesterday. The actress plays an agent who enlists an American tourist (played by Johnny Depp, who looked debonaire in a three-piece suit) to help capture a criminal with whom she once had an affair. Jolie was first spotted filming scenes for the film outside a cafe in Paris, where she looked tres chic in a pencil skirt and wrap. The film looks like it will be a study in ladylike dressing and old Hollywood glamour, and we can’t wait to see more!
