Emily Blunt on Young Victoria Corsets: “It was hell!”

Mar 1, 2010 @ 4:47 pm

In her role as the titular queen in The Young Victoria, Emily Blunt’s period piece costumes literally had her in a pinch. “It was hell,” the actress told People.com at last week’s 12th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards. “[Costume designer Sandy Powell] corseted me within an inch of my life. I said, ‘Well I can’t breathe, Sandy.’ And she said, ‘I don’t care.’” Blunt’s moments of discomfort paid off—that night she was honored with the Swarovski Award for her film achievements while Powell took home the prize for Excellence in Period Film. “It worked. It transported me to a whole other place,” said Blunt.

Victoria’s Secret introduced its latest collection with a campaign starring the brand’s newer Angels, Chanel Iman, Lindsay Ellingson and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, as well as VS vet Alessandra Ambrosio. The collection, called “I Love My Body” Body by Victoria, ranges from $36-$48 and includes super-soft racerback, push-up and multi-way silhouettes designed to accentuate curves. For Ambrosio, a well-fitting bra helps her appreciate her own bod. “I love my body when I am comfortable and know I look great! Body by Victoria is my favorite bra because it is the perfect fit for my body,” she said. “I Love My Body” Body by Victoria is available in stores and on victoriassecret.com, where you can register for a chance to win a bra from the collection and a $500 gift card.
